Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

The character changes come from all his different drug use- he's constantly licking up cocaine, cracking a bunch of poppers, or eating whole sheets of acid. I'd like to see anyone hop around drugs like that and NOT change.

And Benecio del Toro is one of the finest actors in his generation- and he DID study the part well, in fact almost too well. In a deleted scene, he actually burned out cigarettes on himself, which is something he learned that the real Oscar Zeta Acosta did in real life.

I can do a lot more explaining if you'd like, and it's fine that you didn't like his character, but it's for damn sure that he studied and got into character in ways that few actors even can compare with.
