A new thrift store opened in a nearby town this week and it rocks! I went to check it out today and bought a ton of fabric and yarn for only $2. I bought 5 yards of a light purple cotton, 4.5 yards of cream colored cotton with tan leafy/flowery designs, 6 yards of blue that seems to be some type of blend and about 3 yards of dark purple cotton with swirly black designs and a bag full of yarn. Man, if I wasn't so poor, I would have bought all they had! I have hated all the thrift sotres around here forever, so I am so glad to see a good one! And, it benefits the domestic violence shelter. Oh, happy day!

I had the same problem here for awhile. There were some poor/mediocre thrift stores in the area, but we just had one open a year or two ago and I'm always getting awesome deals there. I bought an entire box of allman/boz skaggs/doobie bros. records for $11.00 (two or three were still sealed) and quite a few shirts... My favorite one so far being a really old hemp American Beauty tee. I've seen entire sterlitite drawer carts full of fabric at this place and it's a DAV thift store.

I remember going to a small thrift shop in Hatteras Village a couple years ago. Ahaha, I bought a foot messager there. My favorite store has to be Exotic Cargo.

I love when i find stuff from the thrift store that's reasonably priced and in ok condition. i use old sheets and curtains for material, cuz you can usually get 5 yards of fabric for 4-10 dollars

There is a DAV store where my folks live and it is great. I found the most amazing saddlebag-looking purse there for $2 and they always have fabric and patterns and such. I was used to having lots of good thrift stores around when I lived in Missouri, but when we came to Florida, there weren't many at all. I still can't belive how expensive some of the thrift stores are here. $15 for an old sweater? If you are shopping in a thrift store, chances are that you can't afford that!

The thrift stores in my area are pretty good.... we have 2 Goodwills, and a Salvation Army, and about 3 other thrift stores that benefit charities, or battered women, or the Women's Center, etc etc.

Most of them I can find AWESOME deals, which makes me very happy... because I am not willing to pay $50 dollars for a pair of Abercombie and Fitch pants that are going to fall apart after the first wash. I would rather a) buy some pants at the thrift store that i only paid a dollar or two for and therefore wouldnt care if they fell apart after the first wash... or b) buy some awesome handmade, DURABLE pants from you lovely mamas on this board for a bit more...... but all your pants have CHARACTER!

Hey, I wish I could find some nice cord at a thrift store.
I started embroidering some snowflakes on the blue cotton that I bought. Don't know what I will do with it, yet. Maybe a nice long skirt.
A couple of days ago I went by the SA thrift shop here and they had changed it all around and it seemed more expensive. :( I hate that!
