Think about it. The world at the time was dominated by the Roman Empire and Judaism was very strong at the time and location. Then Jesus came. He went againest both in some points. All he wanted was peace and what did he get for his beliefs. Crucifixion. Expand on this peoples

Jesus did not come to the earth to bring peace

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." -matt. 10:34

His main mission was to die, die for our sins.

The fact that you rebel against global powers does not make you a hippie at all.

True, but his greatest message was that of love.... "Love your neighbor" is illustrated over and over again in the Bible.

Even though I may not be a christian, I would like to have hung out with Jesus. He seems like he would be an awesome guy.

I AM a Christian, and I know I'd get along with Jesus just fine... I know he'd have a similiar "love everyone" attitude like me!

Yeah i think he was the original hippie...I think even Skip said so somewhere, about what is a hippie? and Jesus was mentioned as the first one! that was on the old forums though...
He had a love your neighbour and your enemy as yourselves attitude that everyone should have, and he loved the world, whenever loads of people turned up he would go off in a boat or a lake, or climb up a mountain, he was the dude!

You're taking bits and parts of something. Jesus wasn't a hippy...obvious. He didn't believe in "free love" or drugs and whatnot.

Get with it people. It's just like saying he was a murderer because he has two eyes, and you know murderers with two eyes.

being a hippie isn't all about drugs and sleeping around with a whole bunch of different people.

the original 60's idea of free love, was before STD's came into the picture. talk to most "hippies" nowadays, and they probably wouldn't have the same attitude towards it, that they did back then.

the MAIN message of being a hippie, is to love everyone and everything regardless of who/what they are. which is what jesus preached the whole time he was alive. so, think about it.

forget about the sterotypical view of hippies, that came from the 60's. sure, those people were hippies, but taking acid and tripping out in the woods doesn't make you a hippie. anyone can do that.

Jesus is, "The Hippie", because he is the only one who can truly say that he loves everyone. He stressed how it important it was for us to love each other, but in truth, being that he is Christ in the flesh, he is the only one who honestly has love for every body.

Jesus was more like "The Ultimate Flower Child" rather than "The Ultimate Hippie"... the differences betweeen "Hippie" and "Flower Child" were brought up in my forum as they related to Christians, and it does make a lot more sense. Look up the definitions in a dictionary.

Just because he loved everyone doesn't quite mean that he was a hippie. Yes he had some good ideals, but I mean he was still pretty judgemental. Anyone who condemns others for living their lives differently or having different beliefs isn't a hippie in my book.

Hmm let's see.. Ever heard of hell? Isn't that the place where all the 'non believers,' 'sinners,' and people who don't follow Jesus are supposed to spend an eternity? In my opinion he was a pretty intolerant guy.

-Yes that is an opinion. And you must remember that you have freedom of choice-free will. Jesus died on the cross to wash away everyone's sins and you have the choice to accept that free gift or reject it. But if you wanna talk about intolerent, how the people who reject Jesus' free gift.

Therefore, Hell is a choice and likewise so is heaven.

Yes I agree that everyone has their freedom of choice, which is why I said that he was intolerant. Like you said, those who don't accept this "gift" are eternally punished. So if they really have the complete freedom you say, why are they being punished for choosing a different path?

And how are people who reject the "gift" intolerant??

I personally think it is all a bunch of bull shit, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. Sorry if I have offended you, that was not my intention.

I hate to tell you that there is not one single person in this entire world who can say they are completely open to every single thing in the universe. Therefore, if that is what makes one a hippie, no one is a true hippie.

As a matter of chronology, if one is looking for the FIRST hippy, one should inspect the life of Chuang Tzu. (This is not a comment on the divinity of Jesus.)
