I am a new student of meditation and I have been practicing TM. It has really been some mind trip without a doubt. Sometimes as I'm coming to the end of a meditation sitting I find my heart is beating kind of hard and my body seems very warm. Recently I have seen a lot of discussion on line about "dangers" associated with excessive kundalini release resulting from "too much" meditation and yoga practice. I see people talking about things like the possibility of excessive kundalini release leading to sickness, insanity or worse....
Can anyone help me out with some knowledgable facts or advice on this issue?

As you are just beginning to meditate there is no real worry regarding awakening Kundalini as it takes years of practice (and/or a guru's help) to awaken ones' Kundalini. Have a positive frame of mind and if possible try to seek a spiritual guru who can clear your doubts.

trust yourself. I've done some Kundalini meditation and i just get some bursts of energy, twitches and nice sensations (of what I believe is Kundalini).
i don't really believe in it all that stuff (but i'm adventurous). but it is said that only accidents like blows to the head and irresponsible gurus can trigger a Kundalini rising that you can't handle.
Kundalini is never bad in itself, nor excessive, it's about your maturity.
Kundalini meditation always release a small bit of energy. If you attain it (the Rising) thru meditation it means you're prepared. If some external event or exotic practice triggers it, it's another deal. Either way, I'm faithful i would put it to good use.
