I am posting this in the Health and Women's Issues forums because it relates to both. My boyfriend and I are reuniting soon after he has been away. We have been planning this for months, but now it seems I may get my period when he comes. This is bad. So I decided I would go on the pill, start taking it and delay my period. When I went to the OBGYN for the pills she said that I had to start the pills the sunday AFTER my period started. My question is; what if I just start taking the pills next sunday, before my period starts? Is it safe, and would it be effective at stopping my period from coming? -CB
i dont know but i am going thru something strickling similiar yet very different right now. and im confused as hell.
(Though it may fuck with your cycle initially) I think after a couple months, your period would become regulated no matter what point in your cycle you started the pills. Just don't quote me on that. When I first got on the pill last year, the gyno had me start on the last day of my period. She explained that the hormones go on a sort of rollercoaster, and, as long as you start taking the pill while the rollercoaster is still near it's peak, you'll be fine. It seems like this hormone rollercoaster would be near it's peak a week before your period, and that it would be fine to start taking the pills then. Personally, I think it would work out. But again, don't quote me on that. The period skipping is a whole nother issue. I've tried skipping my period a couple times by skipping my inactive week and going immediately onto a new pack. But I get my period anyway. Aunt Flo's a stubborn bitch. But hopefully, for your sake, you've successfully skipped periods before. It's different for everyone. I know periods can be annoying and get in the way, but are you totally opposed to having sex during it? I personally find it to be quite awesome, for my sex drive is high during this time. It's all about personal preference though, of course.
can anyone explain this to me PLEASE. before tomorrow. i took the morning after pill as a precaution. i am on birth control pills. im so far four or five days late and am supposed to take pill no. 1 (first sun. pill) tomorrow. i am NOT prenant. i took a test. SOOOOO should i take my first pill tomorrow or what til i get a period????? help!!!!!
and that's the thing. i think the pill i took, which are really just HIGH DOSES of the hormones in BC pills. i think i may just being skipping a period. im going to the beach wed.- so i really hope so.
ok well, I'll say this. after I had a whole year of bleeding and 2 blood transfusions, my doc had me take 4 BC pills a day to stop it. I gradually went down to one a day. My period always came the week that I didn't take pills. Point being, BC pills are also used to regulate your period. I think the "take them after your period" thing is try to put the pill cycle in line with your natural cycle. So if I wanted to stop (postpone) my period, I'd take them. Hope that is what you were asking
that's kinda what im asking. im just confused. because i took the 4 pills to havent gotten my period as i was supposed to. so should i start the pills or wait? i would call a doctor but i cant til mondya.....
