I think we should all try to stop buying stuff we don't need. Especially from corporations. Who's with me?
corporations themselves aren't the problem. its when a government protects corporations more than the people is when we have problems. maximum profit for the stockholder was never written into the constitution. we need government reform.
It won't overthrow capitalism. But I follow simple and beneficial habits. I try to download the music, movies and games I can.
foolish.....define want...define need....then define further....basic needs are food, water, shelter...so if your posting on here its a pretty good assumption that you have those and you are already buying something you dont need ie internet access
he said trying TO stop.. besides from that he is still young so maybe from that point he can stop buying when he's moving out?? i was looking from that point, and that's why i said that i definatly want to try to stop buying stuff i dont need. i don't live on myself, but when i do i have to buy stuff for my own isn't it?? well then i dont have to buy a pc, dont have to buy a tv, dont have to buy soap, etc. besides that i can stop NOW with buying stuff i dont need?? my parents (an maybe i too) allready have some stuff what we don't need, but i think when im moving out i won't buy much stuff i dont need.
If we all stopped buying stuff we did not need [defined as tvs and stuff like that]..and went back to consuming/producing what we required .. millions of people would be out of jobs.. their would be no social welfare [and a multitude of other tax related benefits] and we would probaly be bitching about that bloke round the corner with a bigger allotment...Economics as it is today [and probaly as has always been].. tenuously keeps us all in the 'luxury' and 'freedom' we enjoy.. Some don't enjoy such pleasures [wich is a disgrace].. Guess why ?? Their economies are shite and 'big companys' and capitalism can't or won't operate their.. Those that don't like capitalism..should go to countries were their is no capitalism or not enough.. and get a dose of reality.
haha i was waitin for your reaction floyd soil but well i want to know what you did think about it, in wich way...
well all I can say is I've been reading alot of material from Crimethinc lately so it's sorta opened my mind. For one thing I feel that I don't want to rely on material possessions or wealth for my happiness, peace and security.
How can you ever be free? Free from Microsoft, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, and "Made in China"? The answer is to turn of your TV, Computer, All the power, and run of to the hills and become self-suffecient. The last monetary sacrifice you will ever have to make is running by walmart first and picking up a couple dozen do-it-yourself books but thats it. Then you can be free somewhat. You will still be forced to conform to the mapped out instructions set forth by the authors of the books you just bought. I myslef am much more content by sitting in front of the tube and the computer screen dreaming about freedom.
hey voided- I'm not the original poster. I am not too worried about being free or atleast not as worried as say floyd soul . sitting in front of the TV and computer really isnt as big a problem as most people make it out to be. Who would want to be free of a potential, continuous fountain of knowledge. so really I have no choice but to sell out to Bill Gates and Rupert Murdoch and neither do you if youre reading this post. as for the others they rarely if ever get my business anymore.
Was that the guy who lived in a Barrel? Anyways, i don't buy what i don't need, it's called being poor.
