There are 3 versions in the bible, and it seems very unlikely that Jesus said all 3 of em. Even more unlikely that all these so called eyewitnesses all heard just one of the 3. And isnt it pretty odd that the newer the text, the more victory-like His last words become? The oldest text speaks of Jesus asking God why He left Him, almost like He's lost His faith. Then there's the slightly newer version of Jesus demanding His own death by giving His spirit. And then there's the newest version, all of a sudden He doesnt feel like God has left Him, but He's actually saved the world. Now which one is it, and why are there 3 versions?
Some of those do seem unlikely coming from the man who was meant to be god on earth. I recked he said "Oh how people will misinterpret my life".
Haha you just said you dont have to act a certain way based on your age. So why am i supposed to act as if im 17? You acted like an 8 year old, and if thats what you wanna do, thats fine. Never said you shouldnt enjoy your life.
touchè ok, but in all seriousness, i do believe the John and Matthew accounts [for the entire Gospel] to be based on the Luke and Mark accounts respectivly... I find the account in John [where He askes for the water, says "It is finished", then gives up His spirit] seems like more of a "loss of faith" as you describe it that "My God My God, why have You forsaken me" in Mark and Matthew. The account in Luke ["Father, into your hands i commit my spirit"] probobly seems most likly considering many of Jesus' teachings being about serving God, and being His servents. As for the account in Mark and Matthew [Matthew too has the part about giving up His spirit], this also seems plausible, although i find it odd that some of the bystanders thought this meant He was calling for Elijah to take Him down--also that in Matthew the translation of "My God" is "Eli", while in Mark it is "Eloi" take care everyone
No one can seriously believe that anyone being crucified would be saying anything coherant or intelligible. It's the most excruciatingly painful way of dying out of any nominated torture. People crucified have to literally fight for every gasp, all the while trying to take weight off the impaled limbs, which further restrics breath. Then when the weight is taken off, breathing stops. Sop in order to gain breath, the arms must pull and the feet must push to take the weight, which cause excruciating pain that forces the need for the weight to be released, thereby endlessy repeating the cycle. Then the muscles cramp
If you read the gospels in the order in which they're believed to have been written--Mark circa 65AD, Mathew and Luke about 80 AD. John 90-115 AD--the whole thing looks like a story that grew in the telling; Mark; Nothing about Jesus until he's about 30, no post ressurection appearence story (the last few verses of Mark are generally believed to have been added later) just the empty tomb and an angel telling them he's risen. Mathew/Luke; Virgin birth, early life fullfills prophecys, appearence after ressurection as well as the appearence of a host of ressurected saints. John; Claims (if you read it the way most christians do) that Jesus is actually claiming to be God himself, he can bring dead bodies back to life, and the only way to God is through him. [Thomas, which some scholars believe predate all the other gospels (possibly as early as 50 AD) says practiaclly nothing about Jesus himself or his history, and makes no claims for what's supposed to have happened to him]
Torture of sacred beings is fun with or without Mel... I know for a fact that he said 'oh yes please do that again you horny hunk of a man, I want to feel your man-sausage deep inside!'. I even recorded it.
I only recall one gospel saying that those were strictly His last words. They just say He gave up His Spirit afterwards, not that He didn't say anything inbetween
RE: No one can seriously believe that anyone being crucified would be saying anything coherant or intelligible. Couldn't say anything. Death was by suffocation, so what this business is of him expiring with a loud shout is ludicrous. Someone said something interesting about this - he simply said "yes, but Jesus was God". I personally think that he was buried alive. And that myrtje will be swamped with suggestive PMs as people see more of her picture.
all i know is that if i was jesus i wouldnt have taken all of that torture and whipping and stuff... I woulda said something
if you were jesus then you would BE Jesus, and do what HE does, not what YOU would do. i never did understand the "if i was you" thing. doesnt make sense. plus, Jesus didnt say a word because it was His will to take our sin on his bleeding back and bear it. He didnt say anything to defend himself because that would defeat the purpose. He was beaten and tortured and scoffed and spit on and hair was pulled out of his head, his beard, he was flogged, laughed at, whipped, pierced, and insulted. But it was love that kept him on the cross, not the nails.
if was jesus means, if i was in jesus' position.... if i was jesus i woulda said STOP IT, STOP! and the roman guy woulda hung his head and say "okay" or something like that i cant remember exactly FYI: family guy is relevant in all situations
