    Hi,
my friend who has genital warts will be staying with me for a while. What I want to know, and dont want to ask her, is if the warts can transfer through bedding or the washing machine etc. (i use cold water for both cycles)
Or if it requires direct contact ie it simply does not live long outside the body to do anything.

    Thanks

    OMG...genital warts!
    That must SUCK!
I got a wart on my second-to-littlest toe once, and it hurt like a MOFO! It was sooo bad--felt like the wart was crowding out the flesh--it would hurt every time I put weight on it, and sometimes I would accidentally bump it against something and it would hurt SOOOO BAD! Like hitting a nerve.
When I finally got it removed, I wanted it to be cut out, instead of frozen off, because I did NOT want to see that thing ever again--cutting it out would make sure it left for good. But it hurt like hell and I had a crater in my toe afterwards. Bled like a mofo, even though the doc cauterized it. It took forever to heal, but it's finally gone now.
I can only imagine what genital warts must feel like. If they're anything like plantar warts, they must be pretty goddamn terrible.

Wrong - the virus can be transferred on your sheets if they are in an active state - this is how they are transferred from sharing glasses (oral form - I had since I was a baby) etc. direct contact is not neccessary.

The warts virus does not live long outside the body. Id be super safe and avoid contact. Wash the sheets twice with some bleach. Or buy new sheets. the chances of getting it is small but the consequences of getting them is awful. A good page on this is http://ndure-x.com/genital-warts/
