things you have been called for being a hippie

im doin an essay and was just wondering what are some bad things you have been called for being or looking like a hippie?

 

people at my school call the hippie type kids "fags" or "dykes", but I haven't been called any of those

 

having long hair and smoking pot

 

I've been called dirty (for having no shoes), a slut, and a stoner. I am not really any of those... I give my lovin to one man, don't smoke a ton, and having bare feet is very clean! Some people, I tell ya... Hey, good luck on your essay! What's the topic, exactly?

its about my intrest in the hippie culture, i just wanted to point out the fact that people call hippies all these nagitive names, some even go as far as to say that they hate hippies. I don’t understand how people could hate such a nice welcoming peaceful group of people

I've been called a woman accidentally quite a few times cause of my long hair. Once someone in school walked by me and said, "Cut your hair faggot." Completely unprovoked.

 

i was yelled at "get some damn shoes! thats disgusting!" on the street once.

and i was called an immature crazy hippie the other day.. cause this lady was staring at me, so i made faces and gave her the peace sign. haha.

beyond that.. umm.. "pinko commie" "dirty hippie" .. and then for christmas my friend gave me a bar of soap and told me to "share it with your neighbors, you damn communist hippie." .. and i've had quite a few people tell me they'll watch the news more often to see when i get arrested for the first time. haha. .. i dont take it as insults though. i find it funny.

I've definetely made fun of my fair share of hippies. Not exclusively though.

 

I haven't got any problems with the people now, but when I was in France I was in the house of one girl that I don't know and the next day, she said to her friends that I'm not normal because I don't want to go to disco.All the day she doesn't say anything to me.I changed the housethe next day.The second girl was a hippie and she was very kind with me

 

Longhaired, dirty, flag burning, picko, commie, hippy fag was quite popular at one point in time. Now times have improved - it tends to be “you know the tall, long haired, old dude"

 

once wen i was just walkin down the road and a bunch of chavs walkd past n sed sorry love it doesnt go (to my clothes) but as i hated what they were wearing it didnt bother me at all. most people r fine though, they kinda laugh at my clothes but they dont mean anything by it cos the say stuff like wow check out that crazy shit as well

I've learned to swallow a lot in the late sixties even..
in my village..I was the only long haired+bearded one..
names like lazy bastard,faggot,homo,lady,good for nothing..
drunken sailor..Jezus Christ..it did not end..
best thing is totally ignore it..make a fist in your pocket..
Best part was..they called me a beatnik..a lazy profiteer..
in these days..I did not work..never payed taxes to the
Belgian government till age 31..in 68 I was callled in the army..
had to cut my hair..I looked like a fool
After 1 year army in Germany..I went on the road..and between
1969-1976..a travellin' man...came back off and on..
to my home town..people still calling me names like before..
after I had been a few times in a local newspaper with my
travell adventures..the same bastards who called me names..
changed their attitude..and said..well..you have seen something
of the world..they even shook my hand..the hypocryts
shows again..that in this world...double morality..just rules.
i guess..a lot of people..who critisize us..are just jealous..
My respect goes to the Wiz..and Ol'Hippie..because they kept
their values..long hairs etc..I did as well..but after 1977..
I got married..and money was necessary to survive..
although I did studies as a chemical technician..
I forgot all about it..I simply couldn't cope with society..
capitalism..and exploitation......I started working as an
underground coalminer..for 20 years..another big adventure..
i did like it..so..friends..don't let it come to your heads..
