I admit to feeling the preassure but part of the problem comes mainly from the city I live in. I'd say that about 75% of the girls that live here are no shit, drop dead gorgeous. Some in a model way, some are just effortlessly gorgeous. I sometimes find it hard not to compare myself to the other women I see around even tho my bf tells me Im the best. Envy is just part of life I guess.
hm When we really are in our bodies in the present moment, we become fascinating, irresistable, charismatic and sexy. We intrinsically are that way... when we forget about that, and when we're always living twenty-five years in the past, or through memories, or through fears of the future, we disconnect from that. A lot of actors/actresses get hired because they can connect with that animal magnetism. I find it short of authentic, but they have some connection to it. When we see that, the reason we feel depressed and pressured etc., is because the truth is we are like that, but we've forgotten how to connect. Don't believe me? Turn on some deep-beated music and dance right here and now--let go of everything and let the dance take hold.
OK If you read my posts more carefully you would see I didn't blame the models and actresses for airbrushed photos. I also said that it wasn't the actual weight which bothered me, it was the whole package of perfection that is pushed in our faces all the time. I don't 'hiss at Eva Longoria' or whoever, its fine if they want to look good in that way, I don't actually want to look like them- overall I am happy with my appearance I was simply saying that it is difficult not to feel pressured to try and look 'perfect' all the time i.e. perfect make up,hair etc. I understand that the majority of images we see are unreal but it's still difficult not to feel a little pressure sometimes. You also wrote 'It's the average person's inability to accept personal responsibility for their own problems. You sit on your ass, eating Fritos and drinking soda...you gain 50 pounds.' It's like your not even replying to my post. I never said I had any problems with my weight or whatever you are refering to, and nor did the other people who said they felt pressured in this thread. I said I felt pressured by the images, not that I have weight/other problems and I hate all models/actresses because they are skinny and I'm not. Thats not what I said at all.
take your picture and spend a couple hours airbrushing, and you too can look like a woman who had her pic airbrushed.
Argh, I dont want to look airbrushed! i never said I wanted to look airbrushed! Nobody understands what I'm trying to say here!
i understand!! lol. i'm with ya!! and don't mind cynical_otter, she's really cool. her rants tend to be subject specific, not person specific.
Your talking about the pressure to look like them. You are saying its difficult to not buy into [their lies on] how they think a person should look to be precieved as beautiful. Today is like "if you don't look this way your ugly". I don't think that true or agree with it, but in many cases it is because many people have many problems (thats a nice way of say some people are stupid and expect their dates to look like super models, men and woman included).
I just looked through your gallery & you look nice So ya you don't have as big of breasts as the bimbo actresses that are filled up with silicone but you have a nice body in a much healthier sense IMHO. I see that you have a steady beau. I bet that he is happy with how you look. When it comes down to it I would like your figure from what I can tell from the pictures. I just don't think that I have enough curves all over. So.. I suppose that in answer to your question. I have fallen into the same things but for me it isn't only celebreties
Well, hey, it's not like I look like Brad Pitt with abs you could wash your clothes on and a knob that's nine and a half inches long and the girth of the average wrist. Noone's perfect. Unless you intend on, like, going out and trying to impress people with your body... who really cares? I have better things to do with my life than try and preen for a bunch of other people.
the simple fact is, we all have our own appeal. this typically does not appeal to everyone. my sister in law and i are polar opposites in the looks and personality department. the men she attracts and the men i attract are also typically polar opposites. we don't have to appeal to EVERYONE. we don't have to be friends with EVERYONE. that's just unreasonable, and to be honest, a bit greedy. my husband doesn't like blondes. my brother doesn't like brunettes. my husband doesn't like skinny women, my brother can't stand an ouce of extra flesh. there's a type out there for everyone. i think both cases are influenced by family, perhaps. dave's mother and sister are both very skinny blondes. my mother and i are plump brunettes. stands to reason a man may wanna steer clear of someone who reminds him of his mother, right? but still, green, you never know where your eye is gonna fall. it's not like you think every man out there needs to suit your personal taste. don't expect yourself to suit the personal tastes of every man out there, either.
Any girls out there like a heavyset misogynist who often looks homeless cause he refuses to go that metrosexual route, often smelling of gasoline and DOT 5? Right. Didn't think so. This is why I own a cat. Well two actually, but the second one hates me too.
I know exactly what you mean...its so hard. I notice more, even in day to day life (not just celberties, but females around town) look sooo perfect to me...but I also think they look fake...overly done up. I never want to look fake...but sometimes it would be nice to notice someone noticing you. Guys always say they never like 'sluty' looking girls, so why do they get all the attention? I feel self consious all the time...I'm a very petite girl (I'm on 4'11) and that never ever used to bother me...until now, I even liked my shortness....but now I feel like I look 13 all the time....I get that alot. What I did to help myself feel better was start going to the gym regularly...that hasnt only helped to tone myself up alot, but it has helped mentally as well...the first 20 minutes you work out, I believe is good for your body...but after that, its good for your mind...I think anwyays. I also try to keep in mind how damn lucky I am that I can walk and breathe and function without difficulities. Anywyas just keep your head high, and always SMILE BIG!!!
Well, I know for a fact that if you go into a Victoria's Secret store looking for a bra & you are a BBW they will send you, politely mind you, to Lane Bryant or anyhow that is what I saw happen in the one in West Town Mall in Madison a couple of years ago. Victoria's Secret, I think, helps perpetuate the problem. So, Godess yes, let's have a BBW as a Victoria's Secret model. I think that there kind of needs to be models to a certain extent. I personally have decided to buy something only after seeing it on someone else. A true visual is in many cases the only way that you are going to know for example how a skirt or dress drapes or where it falls on the leg. I just don't think that they all should look emaciated or as they are so often called heroin chic. You can look very healthy & have a body that actually has some fat. It's the fat that makes a woman's curves. It is just the way that the Goddess intended. Have a look around the galleries of the ladies here. I'm not going to name names but some of the best bodies I have seen are in these galleries. There are some that are thin but there are also quite a few that have girl curves. As for former art works. I don't really think that I can think of any of the ancient masters who depicted emaciated females or males unless it was to show the famines or something like that. Ruben's for example only had women that by comercial standards now would have to be considered BBW. I think that we are actually sort of saying the same thing here as I re read your message but I do think that you need to have a wider viewpoint.
that's not really true, about them sending you away. unless they're sold out of your size, which does happen. i worked at victoria's secret. we went out of our way to keep stocked in everyone's size. and if we didn't carry it all the time, like the extra huge bras or whatever, which aren't really in high demand at VS, then yes, you probably could get it at lane bryant, which is owned as well by the Limited, and is specifically designed to keep the big girls like me comfortable.
what kind of cats do you have? Cats are the fucking shit. To be honest, sometimes Im tempted to have a cat instead of a boyfriend. Their a lot more honest about the way the feel. (my cat hates me too).
