It sounds more like a diet issue, if you are no too "rough" with your hair. You may need an essential fatty acid supplements like an omega 3, 6 and 9. Eating a handful of almonds a day will also supply some oils that will help improve the condition of your hair. It may help!

Try this: put conditioner on the length only, from the ears down. Then dilute your shampoo and only use it on your scalp. Rinse all of this out really well, then condition once again all over. Gently comb conditioner through with a wide tooth comb. Rinse well with warm water. Follow up with a very cool rinse for added shine.

Try not to wash more than twice a week. Never brush wet hair. Ditch the Pantene. Do not use baby shampoo -- it's gentle on your eyes, not on your hair. Try the cheaper shampoos & conditioners like Alberto V05, Suave, & White Rain -- they work much better and are not loaded down with silicones.

For extra conditioning add some honey and/or aloe vera gel to your regular conditioner (2 parts conditioner, 1 part honey, 1 part aloe vera gel). Leave it on under a shower cap for at least 10 minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

Try to keep your hair protected as much as possible. Keep it up in a bun or braid. Replace your brush with a wide tooth comb.

    Good luck![IMG]

maybe someone already posted this, but it may be your scissors. i was informed that the reasons why a cheap haircut is so cheap is because of the quality of scissors they use. a quality hair salon uses more expensive scissors and the blades are sharpened differently. they have more of an angle. a place like "great clips" which is less expensive has different blades on their scissors, which cost less (so they can charge less) but cut at more of a blunt angle which makes your hair more succeptable to breakage.

Henna!! WOrks wonders!! Put on some neutral henna if you don't want any color change..I treat my hair with it every now and then and it almost seems like it gets rid of split ends..which I know doesn't really make sense...but it does a really good job conditioning...and yeah, definately oils..them dreadies know what they're talking about when it comes to hair..best advice I ever got..
I even noticed when I first started eating flax seed oil on salads and cooking with coconut oil, my hair felt a lot smoother and softer...oils are the best treat when it comes to hair, in my opinion..

coconut is a saturated oil, so itis like cooking with animal fat! don't use it exclusively, and get your cholesterol checked. You need to be healthy for healthy hair!
    I apply coconut oil topically.

you know.... my sister used to complain (before she moved out of our parents' house) because my mom didn't buy the "expensive, better" brands of shampoo, like Garnier Futicse, Herbal Essences, etc, etc... my mom buys like White Rain, and VO5, and I think those work better, and don't leave residue in my hair... they don't "weigh" my hair down... so i would try a cheaper brand of shampoo, personally.

yeah, I know it's like 85% saturated, but I guess I am one of those that don't think it's all that bad..I don't cook with it all the time, pretty rarely, actually, because I don't understand everything about it, but ... I still don't think it's as unhealthy as it is thought of..maybe you can help me with your perspective..?
it still seemed to give my hair a shine, though, you may be right drumminmama, you're a pretty smart woman, maybe just a matter of perspective...

sat fats are more likely to become plaque in your veins.
What you are talking about is hair nourishment, and that can be done topically as well.
Use coconut milk and really enjoy it rather than cook with the oil.

and I'm just a know it all (wink)
do read hair expert's comments on PT she isn't really aware about many animal issues, but she knows her hair chemistry.
