Tiki, again, you are applying a Semitic god to the world. He sent a saviour to his people. Other parts of the world had their own gods, why would one god send a saviour into the place of other gods?
because there is only one god....and there are millions of paths to god just because you pray to the sun, or vishnu or yaweh or whatever, its still god, god is just a label
If this is true mate, and Allah = YHVH = Krishna = the pagan gods = Buddha, then why would He go down to the world and create several contradictory belief systems in order to have people praise Him? Allah says not to believe that Jesus was the son of God, and there's either heaven or temporary hell The Christian God does say to believe in Jesus, and there's either permanent heaven or permanent hell Buddha could care less so long as you become enlightened, otherwise you'll just become reincarnated. I don't think they're all the same God.
If you believe in the various religious text, take them all literally, and consider them to be the word of God: then you are right, they can't be the same. But if you take a more relaxed and philosophical approach to the whole problem, you begin understanding that it's people who wrote these books and not God. When people say that there is only one God, and all people believe in him, all they mean to say is that all of those details that people made up are not quite correct and not important! This belief in God is an innate feeling, that we posess as a species. All races and cultures had similar feelings, but interperted them slightly differently. They developed different philosophies around similar concepts, and quickly started fighting over them.
The "all gods are the God" argument is lame. Tribal gods have nothing to do with each other, they come from ancestoral worship and reverance of heroes and great people, nature deities are local nature spirits that a tribe needed. Since almost every cultural god, including Yahweh, was a tribal god, then they arent all the same. So stop it.
Which is why its pointless to start preaching to everyone you meet. If theyre seekers God already said theyd find Him, there's no other human being needed for that.
I agree. As I've said many times before, you can't force yourself to believe in something. If it doesn't sound credible to you, or you don't believe Jesus is the ONLY way to God (ex: many Hindus wouldn't understand the concept of there being only ONE way to God), then you won't believe it. I can no more force myself to believe in the Christian mythos than I can force myself to believe the earth is flat... or any more than a believer like Campbell could force himself to NOT believe. Belief is spontaneous...if it is forced, it's not sincere. Just like love. By the way, myrtje, you're beautiful, especially your eyes
God doesn't send people to hell because they question Him. People send themselves to Hell when they reject God's only provision for salvation. What I think is weird, is that some people believe they are so good, they deserve to go to Heaven.
It's god who does the sending, not people. Why the heck would I send myself to hell? You've lost the plot campbell.
wow thats quite tolerant of you. I can see the intelligence oozing from you! What if some other god had a book, and he said he was the only god? Its all about PR and publicists man.
When you reject God, you have made your choice. God makes the rules, you make the choice. God will only send you in the direction you have freely chosen. Don't blame God for your choice. I did not lose the plot, you don't understand the concept. For God so loved the world that He gave us His only Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM, will not perish but will have everlasting life.
I'm not worried as much about political correctness as I am the truth. The Bible clearly teaches that outside of the Bible, all other Gods are false. That's why the Bible states that God is not the author of confusion. Every religion outside of the Bible counterdicts itself, this kind of confusion is authored by the one who thrives on confusion. The God of the Bible states that there was no God formed before Him, and there is no God formed after Him. The God of the Bible has a track record of truth that can be observed in truthful prophecies. No other God has come forward to date, with this kind of truth. Intelligence, should be based on verifiable truth, and not vain traditions of men.
Tiki, This is a very good question. (And it made me laugh too!) Bear in mind that the world population at the time of Jesus was about the same as the USA (probably in the 200 million region). And the Roman Empire made up perhaps as much as half of that. And word of Jesus travelled extremely fast. And the world was a lot smaller back then (no one lived in America) so the news only had to spread East into Asia. It's just a guess, but I would imagine word of Christ had spanned the population within one lifetime after Jesus died. There will certainly have been people who did not hear about Jesus after "the rules changed". I would imagine God would either have made sure everyone knew one way or another, or would allow these people to continue with the "old rules". I guess we have no way of knowing, but just because we don't know doesn't mean God's plan was flawed. There are plenty of explanations for what God did. We just don't know which he chose. There are absolutely no issues I avoid. Please name me some of these issues that Christians avoid! (Or will you be avoiding this one yourself?) Again, I ask you to name something in The Bible that has been proven wrong! Anything at all will do!
I'm pretty sure the new world wasn't discovered until 1492, except for maybe a few viking expeditions to canada but I really don't think anyone in the roman empire sailed to the america's to inform those savages of the wonders of jesus in response to the god isn't one and that all the tribes had there own gods and blah blah blah...god is one, God is just a word we use to label that which is beyond labels....of course in other cultures they don't use the word god in the words of black elk (one of those crazy savages that worships rocks and tobacco and what not) 'the holy land is everywhere'
Well, I'm still waiting to hear from you about the East Gate prophecy. I would love for you to give me your thoughts on it. As long it's not another one liner. Maybe something with a few details. Or would a few details confuse you?
Yet I don't believe the Bible was speaking of spreading the Gospel for only that time period. The Bible states that at the end of time the leaders of the east would raise up and army of 200 million. If the population of earth back then was around 200 million the it would take many years for the east to raise up such an army. In 1960 China said that if they had to they could raise up an army of 200 million men. I believe we are nearing the time the Bible talked about, based on evidence given in the Bible.
No one called their gods "God", of course, but they had names. SO that arugument is lame. God is not one, there is a Great Creator, but he is above even the little bible god. No one knows what is is exactly, or how to explain it, but there is a Great One above all gods. The holy land is everywhere means just that. The world is holy and sacred and no one ground is any more sacred than another. But The Holy Land is a specific place of biblical reference. You cant take all beliefs and dumb them down to fit your narrow little view.
All of your God's have no voice in this world. Not one of them have prophecies you can point to that are accurate. The God of the Bible has revealed the future to us. And the Jews have been brought back to Israel in our generation so God could reveal Himself to the world when the nations try to push the Jews out of their land. The same land God gave them thousands of years ago. Your Gods have no clue of the future, your God's have no prophecies, your Gods are blind. The world forgot that God gave Israel to the Jews. The days are coming when America will not have the strength to hold back the world from taking Israel by force. When the Jews backs are against the wall, when all their hope is gone, then the Jews and the world will see the power of their God. And the Jews will discover, that the name of their God, is Jesus Christ.
