My budget is slim pickin's. My possibilities are not. I just don't know what to do. I want to go about this in the smoothest/ most pleasant way possible. I want to eat raw food for awhile but I'm aware of the expenses involved and the frequent trips to the grocery stores. The whole issue is stress on my parents when having them buy me all this stuff. I'll feel bad and get scared back into the basic vegetarian/organic diet I have right now.

My dad fasts alot on juice and raw foods. He's not too crazy about having to blend everything and buy 20 pounds of vegetables every week. Its time consuming but that balances out with the shorter time period of having to fast. But I want this to be a lifestyle. Without having to starve myself. So I do have parental support and I've been veg for almost a year. I just don't know how to take action.
Where do I get the money? What foods are cheap yet satisfying? (I easily live off peanuts, squash, cheese, salad everyday lol so I'm not hard to make happy... just need my coffee). Plus I'm wondering... how do I go about buying food/planning meals without going to the grocery every 3rd moon?

I'm in a rich family and don't have worries about income but I'd feel bad about forcing my dad to buy all this stuff just for my selfish health interests. He gets into it too almost all the time but only gets enough for so much, not living off of.

Would appreciate the input. Sorry if this is longwinded but its important cause its a food thing. Lol.

    Welcome to the boards, wizza

how about asking for him to procure enough for you, too, or apply an allownace to raw cuisine?
Does the family have a food processor and dehydrator now?
    (holiday gift if not?)
get some books from the library and visit some raw forums such as www.rawfoodtalk.com
and ask experienced folks for their input as well. We can help, but only so far!
see what percentage o raw you want to do. It could vary seasonally, esp in the northern US. I know sprouts and dehydrated foods are the only option in Colorado for winter.
    Oh, sprouts.
start there (less equipment and outlay for "selfish heath interests") and try to eat local fresh foods.
then the bulk bin will become your friend.
Have you gone along on dad's juicing?
that's a good place to start with raw diet (as opposed to cuisine).
A month long detox would help in the change.
Lose peanuts and start eating tree nuts more.

I don't have a dehydrator. Those are pretty expensive and I'm sure my dad isn't that obsessed with it. We do use bulk products when we visit such grocery stores, those are great. I usually don't 'detox' with my dad because its the long process*2. Which isn't helpful. I've never fasted before actually. Need anemas and a planned work out schedule before doing that. Not yet lol. I'm probably going to just slowly talk to my dad about this cause he knows so much, yet hes used to me eating whatever. I don't eat much at all but its whats around the house. Grocery store trips are always a 15 minute ordeal...

I don't know. I just feel bad if I cause extra annoyances for my dad. I don't do anything for him as far as working goes. He pays for everything. So I feel bad or whatever. Hmm. Who knows lol.

most parents will be overjoyed if you show an interest in what they are doing.
you: hey dad, what do you know about raw diets?
dad: well, sweeties...(talks for an hour)

and do something around the house. don't be a bum.

Ate an apple for breakfast this morning (had toast before spinning class) so I'm feelin' clean right now. I'll talk to my dad since we are getting low on some stuff and will hit the grocery store this weekend.

I'm not a bum. Just my parents don't ask for much. Especially when other people clean up after you heh. Just feel bad is all about selfish things. I'm like that.
