My dreams are sometimes vivid, but usually not very interesting. This one was unusual and somewhat disturbing. Dreams are usually short, but last night I had this sequence of dreams, all somewhat related. It reminded me of a Pink Floyd movie. I forgot most of it, except for this one scene. Basically, my friend (nobody I actually know in real life) and I (in the dream we are both children, around 10 years old) are running away from some unexplained danger, at night, in a cold and empty town. They nearly freeze and enter a nearby church. It's like one of those old European churches; a round hall, stained glass windows, red cloth, gold, crosses. Very dark, lit by candles. I think it was influenced by a specific cathedral I saw in Jerusalem a few months ago. An old and quiet priest smiles and says we are welcome to look around, but we must walk around and not approach the centre. In the centre, there are around 40 black cats, all sitting and looking important and uninterested in us. Then we notice many objects tied to ropes hanging from the ceiling. At first it's difficult to figure out what they are, but they keep getting lower and lower. Eventually, we figure out they are dead mice, rats, bats and birds. Some killed by the cats, some by humans. We are at the other side of the hall by that time. We try to run towards the door, through the centre. The priest yells at us, saying it's sacreligious, and the dead things get lower and lower, until they are all around us. We reach the door that we came through, but it no longer leads outside. The priest says that because we passed through the forbidden area, we cannot escape. Instead, we must witness our greatest fears. After passing through the door, we end up some 20 years in the future. The next parts were fairly vivid as well, but I don't remember them. Damn. Writing this is even weirder than dreaming it. It's quite difficult to write it out in words. This dream was very visual, you had to see it. Colours seemed to play an important role: for example, the church was all gold, dark red, brown, black. Then, the future scene is mostly in black and blue.
I usually see cats as enemies. In your case they are uninterested in you, so you have to steer clear of their activities (probably drug related, although it could be an illegal financial activity (for example)). Upon discovering their plans or piccadillos you over react and draw attention to their activities, so they then make you a target.
Syntax maybe the cats are about seeing the church's self-importance and the mice about its dead end ... as above, so below. Maybe you also find in order to grow spiritually there is no dead end and no sacrilege ... only your own deeper truth to face and embrace, and not even your worst fears will keep you from doing so. Which is good. Just something to keep your mind busy !
