Today I was in a Burger King restaurant and a man in his 20's walked in wearing very casual dress (blue jeans, t-shirt, dress shirt opened up and tennis shoes) and wearing his CD player during his interview for employment. It just not there but I see it most of the time at different places. Is this the new way to appear for an interview? I would like to know Thank You
I haven't worked outside of the home for almost 6 years as I'm a stay-at-home mother/housewife, but when I WAS in the working out of home force, the jobs I went for where in medical facilities, so I always came to my interviews dressed up. Not too casual, but not overkill either. I couldn't imagine showing up for an interview dressed the way you described. However, I think that many of the "laws" of interview attire have relaxed over the years, especially when it comes to particular jobs, such as the fast food industry. It's not like they should or would be serving your burger and fries in a suit.
Since I work for myself most the time and have a few workers here and again id say...hmmmm im in the construction field and ones is lucky to find a non tweaker that will show everyday so I cant answer this. Ya get what ya get.
hmmm, I over dress for my job interviews. If it's a food type, black pants and a nice shirt (no words on it or anything though), if it's retail then black pants, black jacket and a nice shirt underneath. Seems to do the trick.... it's better to overdress than to underdress. I also wear my dress pants to drop off resumes, because having people drop off resumes in torn jeans, an oversized hockey jersey and smelling like they haven't showered this week makes me wanna tear up their resumes
Hi Thanks for the responces. I talked to one young woman the next day who was going to an interview at a video store and she was wearing blue jeans and a nice shirt and so I asked her and she told me it is ok if you are applying for the minimum wage work but if you apply for office work then you dress for the part. I agreed with that.
