.....change a pet's name when you get it from the animal asylum? We have been walking the dogs of the local place recently, and (as expected ) fell in love with one. She is about 2 years old, and a Boxer/Staff mix, called Hera. While I don't dislike the name Hera I think it is a much too harsh sounding name for an animal that is already feared by most people. Whenever we pass someone, they'll look so scared as if she'd jump and bite their head off at any minute. It's silly, but i reckon a softer name would suit her personality better and just sound a bit more.......I dunno, friendly? By the way, she's only been at the place for about a month and they gave her this name there, so i think it's not that bad. Here's a couple of pics: Isn't she a beauty? We thought of the names Luna, Lola, Ruby or Biscuit so far, suggestions appreciated. Ta!
oh she is a doll!!! no, i think its totally appropriate to give them a new name. i gave my dog a new name (she was from the shelter and there they named her smidget) i named her lily and it only took her a few days to respond to her new name. i think a new life calls for a new name and that way the dog can totally leave his/her negative past behind and not carry around a name that hold bad enegy. let us know what you name her!
Oh cheers love, I've never seen it that way before, I just didn't want to confuse her. My boyfriend walked her today and tried out different names and she seemed to like "Luna" best  so we'll probably go with that.
I almost named my rescue luna! it was between luna, zeta, and lily and she seemed to respond the best to lily so we let her choose and lily it was. luna is a gorgeous name.
it is your choice, but you might want to pick something with the same sound. sara or fara. It is the sound that the dog recognizes so it would just be easier on her. She is really cute by the way.
