Just curious what other people think of the flu and the flu shot. Knock on wood, I have personally never had the flu. I get ear infections and sinus infections and colds, but not the barfing muscle ache flu. Thankfully. No one in my family gets it. Anyway, my boyfriend is convinced that the flu is super bad this year (which I'm sure it gets worse every year) but I however still don't see a reason to get a flu shot. I believe if your immune system is doing its job that you don't need it. And I think that getting too many flu shots and or taking too many antibiotics will mess up your body to the point where it won't know how to fight off infection on its own.

Anyway, boyfriend is sick now with something and I tried to tell him it is because he doesn't eat right and exercise or get enough sleep plus he is always worried. It just breaks him down and he catches bugs. :( I feel bad for him.

the flu shot is bullshit. there are statistiks (cannot give numbers, so take it like you want) that prove, that too many people get sick about 6 weeks after they got the shot. Then they are told by their docs, that it would have been worse without it. Here, the Robert-Koch-Institute (councels the nation on health things) recomends the shot only to medical personal and elderly people.

There are also different diseases labeled as the flu, and most of them are harmless. The real flu, influenza, is a dangerous disease, you are sick about 2-3 weeks. (The other ones go faster) the ones that are seriously in danger are little kids and elderly people.

also the flu meds, are a story for themselves. The side affects are symthoms pretty similar to the flu itself....

Yup, pretty much what I believe. Don't think I'm getting the shot. Will take my chances.

I've never had a flu shot, and probably never will.. but there are some people who just have really weak immune systems and so I do suppose they shuld get them. The Influenza virus mutates so rapidly that a new vaccine is needed each year - but they only guard against a few of the strains, hence some people still get the Flu after the vaccination.

I guess the statistics change depending on the country.. but the flu shots seems to be working here.. usually
