I adored this movie as a child!! I rented it recently and I realized how bad some of the actors were (jeff bridges? Who's idea was THAT?!?) but it's still SOOO wonderful to see. Supposedly they're making it into a movie now, you can check it out here. What do y'all think it'll be like? I don't know who they could possibly get to play the part of Amalthea. She's too perfect.

I've been so hyped about the new TLU movie! I just recently bought the cartoon on DVD, and I love watching it. It's just such a great, timeless movie, and if you haven't already, I would recommend you check out the book by Peter Beagle! It is one of my favorites.

Nooo! Don't remake it! It will be ruined!

I haven't seen that since I was like 7 or 8, so I don't remember any specifics... but I remember being totally in love with it. I'm afraid to watch things like that again, because they're always different than I remember them... not as cool. Because I got jaded and lost my beautiful imagination. :(

If you check out the site, (I don't exactly remeber the specifics) it says that they're gonna get alot of the actors that did the voices for the main cartoon characters to play the same role in the new movie, so that should help it be good, maybe a different kind of good though.

I just hate how they rely so much on computer animation now, though. It used to be so damn cool because they had to use their imaginations to come up with all the great stuff. But now, they just turn it all over to some computer nerd who makes it suck. :(

I know!! Like, if you watch Labyrinth they made some of the coolest shit without ever touching a computer.

But I think some pholks are freaking out a little too much over nothing. How will this movie "ruin" it? That's like saying that the Lord of the Rings movies ruined "the hobbit" cartoon movie, or the books. I mean, even if this new "last Unicorn" movie sucks bigtime, the cartoon movie and the book will still be excellent.

I'm not sure how I feel about them remaking it...why screw around with an already perfect thing...I kind of dread them junking it up, but I also am curious and a little but thrilled to see it...

I love it that there are so many people here who were raised on this movie...it was my favorite too...I just started watching it again like 3 years ago after being without it for along time and it's like coming home...if that makes sence...I ADORE Schmendrick the Magician...I had such a crush on him as a kid!

The Labyrinth is one of the coolest movies ever, without all the computers. I agree about how filmmakers rely WAY too much on CG nowadays, but we'll just have to wait to see how this new movie turns out. Who knows, maybe it'll a great movie, and maybe it'll suck, but we'll still have the cartoon and book.

i agree, directors rely on CG animation WAY TOO MUCH. just look at the pre-Star Wars crap fest. Story aside from SW, the movie was butchered by CG. I being a computer artist can tel if something has been touched up by computers, I see the flaws and inprovements, but c'mon go back to making movies the old way. the best example I've seen was the League of Extroidenary Gentlemen (and on woman). Mr. Hyde was a suit, fuckin awesome job. Not how I would have done hyde, but the point is they did most of him with out computers.

As for the last unicorn, I never watched it untill I met my wife. She loves it, infact I just bought it for her on DVD. I wonder if they will get America to do the sound track again.... they don't have anything else going on.

oooo, I hadn't thought about the whole soundtrack thing yet. It would be awesome if they had the same soundtrack by America.
