it's the vegetarians who are just in it for the fashion. They really couldn't give two shits about animals, and they definately don't know anything about the activism surrounding it.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking love meat. [IMG] BUT, when you commit to a lifestyle, you should be in it 100% for yourself.

i agree to an extent, but i also feel that the less people eating animals would help this planet and themselves a hell of a lot, so even thought the reasoning maybe not there, the action is, i'm not going to complain just because someone has reasoning i dont agree with, if they arae having the same final outcome i want, and help the planet at the same time

For example, if we stopped using fossil fuels because a new renewable source is found, but the only reason the main powers switch to it is because actually its a lot cheaper and they didnt consider that it would assist the ecology, i will be quite happy because whether they meant too, they could of saved this earth

A vegetarian is someone who doesn't eat animals, not someone who is an activist for animal rights. Yeah, there are a lot of vegetarian animal rights activists, but the two are mutually exclusive. Just because you're a vegetarian doesn't mean you have to be an activist. Just don't eat meat.

However, there are people that like to say they're vegetarians just to fit in, or because it's trendy, but they still will eat meat every "now and then." I think the new catch phrase for these people is flexitarians or some other rubbish. Kind of funny, actually.

flexitarians, hehe, like it, now that isn't really vegetarianism, your right, you do not have to be an activist to be a veggie, as long as these people don't actually eat the animal they are a veggie whether we like it or not (and i quite like it that they are)

Well, the only reason it annoys me is because the people I'm refering to generally like to throw it in everybody's face, as if to say "Look at me! I'm a vegetarian!"

You can't tell me that doesn't get old...

You know what annoys me? People who question the motives of others who have, for whatever reason, chosen a more compassionate lifestyle, when they, themselves cannot be bothered to do so.

My parents have decided that they're flexitarians... not because they occasionally eat meat, but because they occasionally don't, by cooking meals that I can eat every now and then. They're thickheaded sometimes... but it does make me feel good to know that at least they make a slight effort on my behalf to not eat meat. It's a start!

Give me a break...I didn't imply all vegetarians are like this. Don't take everything up the ass. It's fun, but it hurts after a while! [IMG]
