vaporizer opinions - going shopping

ok, i've decided i want to buy a vaporizer. i have some questions if you have answers, but there are some guidelines.

1. i will not purchase the "soldering iron" type vaporizers such as the BC vaporizer or blue meanie vaporizer styles with the jar and metal heating element and such. these are inefficient and often end up burning the herb anyway. i want something equally or more efficient than just smoking it, otherwise the health benefits aren't worth it. i need to be saving money on herb as well as saving my health.

2. i simply cannot afford a volcano vaporizer, it's way out of my price range (200 dollars or less, preferably around 150)

now, that leaves two basic types of vaporizers available, and i've heard good things about both types.

the first has a ceramic heating element, usually a hose and glass mouthpeice, and often a wooden body. the same style as vapordoc or vapor brothers. they look good and i've heard good things about them, but have only ever used the soldering iron type personally, so i'd like to know from people here who have tried them how good the efficiency is on these things. they seem like they may likely work the same basic way as the soldering iron type, and i'd like to know if anyone has seen these cause combustion and what their thoughts on efficiency are. also, are these models generally silent like the soldering iron ones? i'm moving back in with my parents, and thats kind of a concern with my first choice.

my first choice is the digital hand held type such as vapir 1 or the voodoo vaporizer. these have a digital readout of the temp, which is fully adjustable, and can be fitted with inflatable balloons similar to the way the volcano works. i've heard really good things about them, enough so that they are my first choice, but have also heard they've got a fan going and it can cause kind of a loud, high pitched whining noise. if any of you have used one of these, let me know what you think about the matter.

anyway, these are my two basic options regarding what to go with, and i'd like to have input from people WHO HAVE USED at least one of these styles to give me information that might help me make up my mind one way or another.

actually, i think i'll just go with the vapor brothers style model, i've been looking around and actually i'm thinking it sounds like a better type of vaporizer than the voodoo or vapir one

 

i have a silver surfer, it was about 170 when i ordered it from eBay...it works really well, doesn't really burn anything, and looks pretty cool, it works like the vapor bros but looks a lot better, at least in my opinion

 

yeah, i've seen that, and it kind of looks like an eyesore to me lol....not that any vaporizers look that good to begin with. they almost all invariably look like something from a science fiction b-movie

 

Anyone seen the cheech and chong movie they play a lot on comedy central? Well in the one seen when the detective gets the pot samples in his office, and he closes the blinds and smokes it. He takes out this little gun, puts the pot in the top or something, and presses the trigger and out of the front of a mist. I was wondering if thats some crazy vaporizer, or just some made up pipe they made for the movie?

 

volcano is the best. get it. it rules. $550-700 depending on where you buy.

 

thats for sure, the BC ones i've used are pretty bad, u end up not knowing if your high or not

I have the vaporizor that looks like this :



It's a Vapor Cannon or something, it's simular to the Vapor Brother/Vapor Doc style. It works wonderfully. You can make it so the herb burns or you can make it a vapor. The knob on the front controls the temp. I honestly don't have a want or need to try any other vaporizor. It's pretty efficient, it'll knock you on your ass if you're not too carefull. When you first use it you'll wonder if it's even working then BAM you're high as shit. I used to have a smokers cough (from pot, I don't smoke cigarettes) and after 2 months of using nothing but the vaporizor my cough went away and hasn't been back since. It's a great investment if you plan on tokin' for a long time. Mine makes a slight humming noise and really isn't notiable unless it's right next to you and there's no background noise. Oh yeah and one great thing about a vaporizor is it's a hell of a lot easier to clean than a pipe or bong (no fucking resin!! I hate resin!). Get one you won't regret it. BTW I've been using one for over a year and it still bakes my ass almost like it's the first day I started smoking (9 years ago). Also the more tired or the longer you've been up the more powerful it feels.. if you use this within an hour or so of when you go to bed you'll barely be able to walk.

what does pot look like after is been vaped?

 

like burnt up black/brown weed haha it's still mostly intact though

 

Don't buy any vaporizer associated with vapir, they get horrible reviews and are overpriced for what they offer. They say the thing doesn't get hot enough to effectively "vaporize" the weed so you'd probably lose more money on wasted weed then you would actually buying the thing. yeah, i HAD heard good things, but then i looked around more after making this post and found some really bad reviews.

especially with that full review posted here on the vapor cannon i'm thinking i'll probably go with that style of vaporizer.

approximately how much herb do you specifically use with this thing to get a good high going? i know its going to be different for everyone based on tolerance, but how about in your exerience?

 

well, i ended up going window shopping this morning at a few local headshops, having decided on the style i wanted (the box style like the vapor cannon)

first shop i visited had one missing a peice, and said to come back in ten days because they'll have new ones, so i walked like two blocks to the next one, and though it was 20 minutes after their opening time they were still closed, so i went across the street to a smaller smokeshop/tattoo parlor, and they had what i was looking for, but it was pretty expensive at 180-something, but i could wind up saving about 17 bucks by getting a discount membership for 10 bucks, which i can use the rest of the year, and they had some really nice peices. i ended up buying it, figuring with my moving situation as it was i would end up having to pay for rush shipping anyhow. so, yeah, it was a rip off, but i got it -and- tested it immediately. my friend lives nearby, and his roommate had some dank, so i popped in we got it warmed up and all of us got REALLY stoned off of what would otherwise have just been a very small bowlpack. this works really well, and i'm not sorry i bought it. i would highly recommend this over the bubble type vaporizers HANDS DOWN!

but then i ran through the checkout stuff with that, and it rings up for about 10 bucks more than the first page says it is, then add in second day delivery, and i actually saved money this way.

either way, i have a damn nice vaporizer now!

 

sad part is i dont have any herb and don't want to spend the money on some right now.

actually i have two or three good roaches left, but it seems like a really bad idea to put roach weed in the vaporizer...dont want to make the thing taste bad or smell bad or something
