I'm disapointed about it. The hippie generation has changed the world in a much meaningless way that they meant to, but it was worth it. My problem now is: Why is that so many people who claim to be hippies associate this image with stonners as if it were all the same? I don't mean to be preachy. I do smoke pot, I have tried LSD and I'll do it again as soon as possible, but I'm conscious that it doesn't make me a hippie...maybe a poser, but not a hippie. What do you thing about that?
The media did it. I think it was and still is an attempt to discredit us and what we believe in. Since the late ‘60s they’ve (the media) been running stories about drug abuse and anything else they could think of about us. You can see it in old TV shows and old movies. The hippy is always some burn-out and the brund of a joak. People always fear what they can’t control or don’t understand. Back in the day, I was pulled over by the police on a weekly basis just because I had long hair. I was followed when I walked through stores. Mothers would take their children by the hand and move them away from me because I had long hair. We were treated like 2nd class citizens. They (the conservative element) controlled the media, the police, and the laws. It’s amazing to see hippy.com thriving. I think that the message of peace and tolerance is simply too powerful to keep it down.
ONE GLOBAL HIPPY THOUGHT....cool, The problem is identity.....What image does the word "Hippy" conjure up...(It's not all the media's fault, though they are a lot to blame...I can think of a few folks who give us a bad name....) Yeah....IDENTITY that just about says it all. Personally I love bright clothes, long hair, and all the regalia, but I do not wear it (Does not suit me), nor if I did would it make me a hippy... Maybe if we could think enough about making a true hippy image our philosophy would have more of an impact...But then is that not what we are fighting...."Stereotypes"......Think I have just got myself on a mental "Merry -Go-Round"... We are here though, and though we do not have an organisational head as such, we make impacts...... I think most people have a little bit of "Hippy" in thier hearts..... People think they are really smart when they think that they have worked me out...they say, "Hey, your really a hippy at heart"...I reply..."Yep, I am" ....their estimation of me seems to plummet, but I hang in there with who and what I am, then lo and behold after a while they are open to listen seriously to some true hippy wisdom...And it is a viable, constructive and harmonious wisdom that wins respect hands down.....But hey, that's why we're hippies, cause we see things......... The garden calls, ........ and im going cause ive started rambling..............
Read my last post on this forum....extra info, I bathe dailey, I shave dailey, I have not gotten high since 1996. I do care. I just made a wronge decision. But my word means something to me, and i will ride out my obligation.
Mushroomdreams..yes you are so right...CONSERVATISM...people are so afraid to break out of the mold, or, just "not thinking" enough to realize there is so much more......... Reckon they are afraid of what they do not know...maybe a compulsory year of smoking spliffs would make the world a better place to live in....OR,...!.. Oh hec...was it the "super strong" microdots of the late sixties that gave me this "alternative" ways of seeing things......a way that is invisible to others...BUT HIPPIES who, whatever they look like and do, I can relate to, the minute eye contact is made...... CRUMMYRUMMY... I tried to track down your last post on the forum but got bogged down with your latest "One liner's".... Though I have to say that with the vagueness of the replies, we, are I think are in one mind....HIPPIES...HORRAY...and long may we be so...I love it...I could never be anything else...There is only one way for me, and that is that what we are all so silent and vague about saying... I think that is the hippy way, an understanding, and ...well the rest is up to whoever wants to finish the sentence....................... and ain"t that just the freedom of being a hippy........write, say do.... as is right for whatever it is..........for whoever it is... Vague enough...comprehendable enough..? Love you all........... Strawpuppy
the hippies not bathing i think was from back in the 60's when most of them were homeless and living on the streets but didn't care. so not much of a chance to bathe. but as far as the subject of germs and bathing goes im with george carlin on this one.
For the last two years,my bro and I worked security for the local Solfest in Takilma.(the treehouses). Both years we had volunteers to work so they could get in the fest for free.Cool.Both years we were assiled by human stench to the point where we showed them where the showers were. These stinkbombs were between the ages of 18 to late 20's.There is no excuse for bad hygene. As for labels,I would have to say I am a "head".Thats where I'm comfortable. Crummyrummy, thank you for your service to our country.I mean that bro.
Innocent blood. The first thing I did this morning was look into your eyes and cringe....Ha ha......Not at you......you look sound....at me for being an asshole.... You look as though you have good sense of humour and a sharp brain... Appologies for eveything I said on these boards last night. I have a nasty habit of getting "off my face" then expecting everyone to put up with my ramblings...Ughhhh.... As for innocent blood.........It would probably be mine and my kids and family if it were not for guys (and girls) like you that were good at your job. A very sincere thank you....... strawpuppy... BTW, what wrong decision did you make i'm intrigued (another word for just plain very nosey)..?
I don't know why but it came across very funny when your answer just popped out so simple like that... I just burst out laughing.... I was thinking maybe you were in jail for heinous crimes or had married an axe murderer.............. Thanks for putting the first smile on my face this morning....
