This thread went totally wrong , some people trying to show that they got knowledge when they dont .Stick to what you know , and the things that u dont know ask about it , Im not going to go and ask you about your genre because I dont know the history of it , but I know the history of what I listen to , so try to drop some understandable comment so you can get an answer.

Let me get this straight, you hate rappers... Coz they're rich... I REALLY doubt the entire genre is rich... Nice.

Hey, noone's been able to suggest a decent song. All they've done is "hated" on what's popular. I don't like right wing assholes or talk radio but I have to admit I nearly pissed myself laughing when one of those clowns simply played some dude named 50 cent for a bit, and then said "can anyone make out ONE word that this guy is saying"? It was a bit of "indaclub" or whatever.

Now they've even abandoned all pretense of trying to figure out how to make words rhyme. Someone just decided to put -izzy or -izzle on words and it's like

    I's up in the hizzle
    Wid ma nizzle fo shizzle

    Huh?

I mean, the only guy with less talent or worth than that with his teeth all gilded up is that one guy who went UHHHHHHHHH in all those other rap songs.

But that's OK - if you don't like who's on the radio, wait six months. Either noone'll care about em anymore (Ja Rule?) or they'll be in jail (Mystikal, C-Murder etc)

And of course if you want complete inanity, listen to the Insane Clown Posse. I was listening to a bit of it and the guy seemed to be obsessed with his own testicles - putting a weave in his pubes or dipping them into soup. I still don't get that one.

    Hahaha! I love your bluntness.

Listen to some Public Enemy if you hate all that 'gangsta' stuff, they're AGAINST all that type of stuff.

Public "I'm a victim and I must whine about it at all times" Enemy?
Public "We kicked out Griff for saying what we think" Enemy?
Public "Nation of Islam - who think white people are inferior creatures that deserve to be beaten to death" Enemy?

    No thanks.

When you say "why's rap good?" I think "why's polka any good?"

You can't really explain it, I guess... It's just something you either like or you don't. *shrugs* I like rap, but I don't like polka.

    1) My best friend is a female rights activist, and a lesbian... so that takes care of the homophobia and the sexism, doesn't it?
    2) I don't give a damn about the pope. All popes of all nationalities should be killed upon confirmation.

for "pro-peace" rap, check out Spearhead. Michael Franti is rap's John Lennon. :sunglasse
and there are multitudes of those "pro-peace" rappers... yes, there are black guys calling for peace and love, watch out!!

It's shocking because you dont seem like a person who would approve of homosexuality (usually when someone is racist they hate gays as well).

As witty as IronGoth may be, he's simply jaded, and doesn't know good hiphop from the bad. He likes to clump everything together in a nice little ball.

    I like political/meaningful hip-hop...one example is Jurassic 5.

It's not like you're really gonna check them out, though.

Well, in the absnce of things like opinion and taste you gotta ask - sorry, axe

"Is it the music"? Why not listen to the original that they sampled from? Or, you can always listen to the "original" backing tracks on the metronomey ones. Boom boom chig ... ba boom boom chig.... etc. YAWN

Is it the lyrics? Gee, if you hate white people, women, fellow blacks, haters, gays etc. then yeah, but if you are interested in a better world, no.

So let's see. Music? Stolen or not worth listening to on its own. Lyrics? Dreck.
Is it the clothes? Baggy panted ghetto chic. No thanks. That material makes hockey jerseys look stylin'. The politics? Tec-9s, hos and weed. Riiiiiiiight.

You've obviously never listened to (for example) Spearhead, how do you know that their music was stolen?

Here are lyrics from a Michael Franti & Spearhead song, "Bomb the World":
    Please tell me the reason
behind the colours that you fly
    please tell me the reason
    you want us to unify
    you say you're sorry
you say there is no other choice
but how can you feel sorry
when you kill people with no voice

    (chorus)
You can chase down all your enemies
    bring them to their knees
you can bomb the world to pieces
but you can't bomb it into peace

You may even find the solution
    to hunger and disease
you can bomb the world to pieces
but you can't bomb it into peace

    The earthquake of anger
simply brings more of the same
    military madness
the smell of flesh and burning pain
so I sing out to the masses
stand up if you're still sane
to all of us gone crazy
    I sing this one refrain
    (chorus)

I say, power to the people

Could you please shut the fuck up? You have no idea what you are talking about.

Apparently you don't grasp the fact that many rappers don't use samples...many create their own beats. And beats aren't just a drum line...most are multi-instrumental and DO take talent to work out.

Apparently you don't know all rap. All rap isn't as fake as that shit is. But, then again, why not just stay close minded and bitter? Hell, it works for you....in other areas, as well!

We went over this. You like to repeat. Repeat. Repeat. (Damn, I'm funny).

yes, because all hip-hop artists wear baggy clothes, smoke weed, and bang whores.

You should only argue what you know, my man...
