So...I got this idea for another tattoo. I want a symbol of "unity" on the underside of my left wrist (closest to my heart). I thought about the Native American symbol for Unity...which is...similar to a swaztika. I'm not sure how I feel about that. It doesn't look exactly like a swaztika but at first glance it certainly looks like one. I've always enjoyed studying native american culture and have always felt akin to it. But at the same time, people might see me as a threat...having a swaztika on my left wrist. I don't know... what do you all think? I am looking for a different symbol for unity...while I marinate on it for awhile.
Find a different symbol and native american it up a lil bit....i dont know how...that'd be up to your creativity... just a thought.
This is the one that I was looking at - the Native American one. I actually found another which is a Buddhist symbol that I really like:
Why do so many white people get our symbols tattoo'ed on them? I'm not bashing, just wondering what the hype is?
I didn't think it was all that common... I guess I always felt a connection with Native American culture...maybe others feel the same?
Connection as in you agree with us or see eye to eye with us on something? What would that be? Please explain.
Similar to the Native American culture, I feel extremely close with nature and see it as a family-type relationship. The sky as my father, the earth as my mother, the animals as my brothers and sisters. i guess that's the best I can explain it as.
no matter what annie, if you get one that looks vaguely swatsticker everyone will assume it is, you will spend endless hours explaining and defending your choice. people are not usually that perceptive to see the difference. save yourself the arguments, pick something else - the buddist one is cool. nelo - native american artwork is beautiful as tattoos, my hubby did a wonderful inuit design on a guy's elbow last year and it is stunning. the native artwork is strong and clean, and you can almost feel the power coming from the designs. good stuff. makes for great tattoos. way better than the bitch in bondage he did on another guy (amazing what people pay to have put on their bodies) and more original than ANOTHER barbed wire armband...
