i am a student and have been given a project to produce a magazine about hippies for hippes and i am finding it hard to find any decent information about hippy related topics. so i was wondering if any of you out there could help me and give information or any places that i could find information or if there are any hippy communities based in the south east??!! HELP!! anything would be gratefully recieved. THANK YOU!! xx

What kind of information are you looking for? look up these words permiculture Communal living vegetarianism veganism organic produce any of the anti war sites i guess like Stop The War Fair Trade Animal rights Human rights theres hundreds and thousands of thigs to write about. Are you looking into the history of "hippies" if so there are a few interesting (parhaps not great but ginteresting definatly) books about in librarys. HIPPY is such a broard and encompasing label basically you need to plan out WHAT elements you want to look up. Be it political, social, enviromental. or elements of all the above. How about look into the van culture, peoplewho live in vans and travel for a way to live? the best way to do that is talk to them, but be carefull who you talk to because where some groups are amazingly friendly othersaare the opposite. Why not look into the steriotype of a hippy and see where its origins lie? because all steriotypes are based on some form of reality.
try also to get stuff about the "back to nature movement" in there, and spirituality,usually they are in some way interconnected . nature is a REALLY good subject. of course art playes a big role in the lives of many hippies, the more psychedelic the better. drugs will always be a part of the hippy subculture, especially mary jane, regardless even if some people in the hippy movement itself dont agree with it (and not every hippy is a stoner, despite the stereotype). Try get LOTS of pictures, a picture very often REALLY DOES speak a thousand words. like the picture in my signature of being hippy and darn proud, to me that really sums up alot of what a hippy is about. Know that an alternative DOES exist and explore it courageously....doesnt matter what ANYONE else thinks. yea well hope that i was of any use to u peace and love on your journey sister
