i just bought a new computer and it has a cd and dvd burner. my question is how do i get songs onto the cds? do i first have to have cds to copy? i thouhjt i would just be able to burn songs on them right off the internet without having to pay for them? am i wrong? what do i do????????
theres tons of places to download songs.. you can get free filre sharing software or do searches of websites.. some sites though are dead ends that are just either ways to get advertising $ or are dumb popularity contests type things i like the file sharing options best..however make sure u have a good antivirus & update it at least once a week go to www.download.com & look for file share software some however have adware or spyware byndledd with them..i use shareaza i think its called, winmx is very popular too, theresa few others i've used in the past, & a couple i really hated you used to be able to get alot of music from www.mp3.com too but i think they may have changed that you can also just try web searches for the songs you want using keywords like banf name, song name mps & downloads & you'll fing tons of stuff
(1) You do need to by blank CDs in order to burn music onto them. (2) There are 3 main ways to get music. Two of them are legal: The first one is to purchase the music on a CD at your local store, and then make copies of it. That's legal. As long as you don't give the copies to anyone else who doesn't have that same CD. The second one is to purchase the music song-by-song or album-by-album online. You can do this at many places ... Napster.com, or download.com, there are tons of places. This is also legal (as long as you don't give copies of those songs to anyone else who doesn't legally own them). The last way is my favourite and my personal choice. Get a filesharing program (like Ares http://www.aresgalaxy.org or SoulSeek http://www.slsknet.org/), and download the songs from other users using those programs. This method is VERY ILLEGAL and isn't recommended if you care about being good or bad. And there is always a (very very low) chance of getting caught.

Be wary of copying modern CD's, they contain copy-write protection. Better first to try copying (aka ripping) an older CD. As far as getting songs on CD, I won't go there, from your post it seems you first have to cross the hurdle of getting songs onto your computer. MP3's are a digitally compressed audio format and are most easily gotten by installing a file-sharing program and searching song title or artist and selecting for download. File-sharing prog's: I doubt if winmx is still supported, try bearshare, I also heard good things about soulseek but I haven't tried it myself. Don't worry about the bundled adware with bearshare, I find it tolerable. I don't really have much to do with CD's these days except to backup MP3's. Ever since I discovered MP3's and Napster I stopped using CD's in the traditional sense. I can tell you about how to connect your home stereo to your computer but as for burning audio CD's... I'll let someone else do that.
use bit torrent http://torrents.to/ that site will let you search several bit torrent sites as far as a client goes, get azureus you can also get just about anything else through bit torrent
Like MiGu, I'm gonna suggest Bittorrent. I get my torrents from www.torrentspy.com, and Azureus as the client. This is much better than p2p when it comes to downloading entire CDs or discographies.
