If a homeless man came up to you on the street and asked you for $2, are you likely to give it to him?
I rarely carry bills that small, but given the situation, depending one the homeless person and his/her attitude would decided whether or not they get anything.
What if he spends it on booze I ask myself? Then I realise thats what I was gonna spend it on. Why not help the poor guy out.
i've been known to buy a homeless guy a coffee on occassion during the winter months. i rarely give change though, but sometimes i'll give 50 cents.
I'm usually pretty generous about giving to the less fortunate. The welfare state has failed a lot of people, and many homeless are mentally ill. They need all the help they can get.
depends, if he is working the veteran angle, hell no, if he's working handicapped or pet, or smoking, well there is any number of things that could keep me from giving to a homeless man.....
Bums are everywhere in Houston, so this happens on a daily basis. I rarely give them anything nowadays, but I used to hand out money. When I did, it was usually no more than a dollar. Some of their stories are great. One guy told me that he had to get money for a shitload of fix a flat, so he could fix his tire and drive to the hospital to visit his sick son who was also in a coma. Suffice it to say, he was lying, so he got nothing.
There's a bum that sleeps under the tree in my yard some nights...never bothered me till my car got broken into...now I'm paranoid about it.
Yeah, i do... its one of my compulsions to be charitable... in many ways i have it really good so it feels right. Hell one night i had a taxi ride that cost $10 and i tipped the driver an additional $20. I like to give to my friends mostly though, buying food or drinks or whatever.
