Have you used one before? I had 2 and they both sucked...(no pun :D)

I found it much easier to use my hands. I could get a lot more at a time.

i have a Medela "Mini Electric" (it can be used as a manual, battery, or plug-in type)and it's ok. The only one i've used, and i wouldn't call the experience pleasant, lol, but from what i hear, it can be much worse :p It cost me $65 at the hospital medical supply store 4 years ago...wow, my first "baby" is almost 4, lol.

Do you have insurance? Many co's will buy your breast pump :) I got a Medela Pump in Style (AWESOME! DOUBLE PUMP!) for free through my insurance nearly 4 years ago.

I rented an electric one. It wasn't very comfortable though, made me feel like a cow with her udders in a vice. ;)

i'll have to check the insurance option, it would be nice to get one bought for me. i had one of those medela electric ones with kai, but i could never get out much milk. i'm looking at the avent isis manual. it seems to be a reasonable price, and i like the look of the breast cup.

my insurance wouldn't pay for mine. i hate my insurance.

it depends on what your planning to do with the pump. the isis is pretty comfortable, but it's going to take up a lot of your time to manually pump, if you are going to be doing it very many times a day.

i had an isis, but ended up buying a medela pump in style, when it became evident that the baby wasn't going to be able to nurse on a very regular basis. i pumped every 2-4 hours, day and night until about a month ago (i stopped pumping and started giving him formula at 4 1/2 months, since i realized that i was going to lose what few marbles i had left if i had to keep struggling with the whole breastfeeding nightmare), with the medela. i ended up hating it, and feeling like a damn dairy cow, but it worked well, and i got it about $100 cheaper at a medical supply company online.

right about about the time i decided to throw in the towel, and give the baby formula, i figured out how to express milk by hand. it takes some practice but it's quicker.

yeah, i did both, the hand expressing and the electric pump. i won't really need to pump often, that's why i'm thinking the isis, being cheap and all, would probably be a good fit.

i've tried a few and the best was the avent isis. the cup is so much different then others. it really made a difference with the amount and comfort. it just seems more natural. i never did do pumping on a regular schedele just here and there.
