Aren't u sure about what?Sometime i dont explain myself very well,i know, im really scarce speakin' english Anyway ive listened something about keller(i didnt know him) and yeah i like it
The Redwalls how could i forget to mention The Redwalls to a Beatles fan :& http://www.theredwalls.com/sampler/ they picked 2 slower "radio-friendly" songs for that sampler but it also has the up-tempo song "It's Alright" which is more representative for the rest of their work
hey your cool and just admit RAP IS EVOL AND COMPLETELY ANTI HIPPY ahem. if you wanna hear englands worst answer to zazorlight wannabies check out the LILYPUTIANS at richmond colledge londoN!
actually, lots of hippies in Colorado are into conscious hip hop. Even this ol'fart listens to some. not too much, and it's the commercialization and dumbing-down of music that takes away its heart...not the style per se. Strawberry Fields, you are doing fine with English if you can keep up with a slang riddled message board. (riddled: think of a spray of machine gun fire: riddled with holes)
"a metal-fan understands that not everyone likes metal. a country-fan understands that not everyone likes country. a jazz-fan understands that not everyone likes jazz. rap-fans are too stupid to understand it's not music for everyone and just accuse the other person of being close minded" First of all I said IF! you know, the big if that means only in certain situations (i despise closemindedness/prejudism and the idea of lumping whole peoples and cultures together as the same in any manner). I thought this should have been clear since i also said "just because of it's stereotype" (not "just because of your personal opinion") I wouldn't normally assume this except that she said that she found out it's hip hop so couldn't stand it, obviously not taking the time to see what he's really about. Secondly, YOU'RE being very close minded yourself, first in lumping rap and hip-hop together, second in lumping every fan of certain types of music together, third in saying that people who are fans of rap are stupid, fourth in saying that people who are fans of rap dont' realize that not everyone likes rap, and fifth in not realizing that it goes beyond the pure aural/musical level and also into the realm of poetry (even if it doesn't sound amazing musically, it just may sound perfect as a background for a live poetry reading. that is if you bother to listen to the lyrics...). i will listen to music that i don't particularly like if the lyrics are good enough, but that's just me... thirdly, you fail to realize that the most popular music right now is rap and hip-hop, so to avoid preaching to the choir, to actually help these troubled youth; OUR FUTURE, we gotta do this kinda thing, we gotta infiltrate. Saul's a smart guy...
bright eyes, umphrey's mcgee, keller williams, yonder mountain string band, wilco, widespread panic, barefoot manner, string cheese incident, sound tribe sector 9, oasis, velvet underground, and a lot of other bands i forgot.
the Jonestown Massacre is a definate must have, no matter what era/type of music your looking for. Also, check out the Dandy Warhols, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Warlocks. I would also recommend the Unicorns. Theyre real different, but really cool. El Guapo is really weird too, but also very good. Against Me! is my favorite band, theyre pretty new. i would recommend getting theyre earlier stuff. its alot better. The Falling is another really good band. theyve got a kind of garage sound to them. it may be a little hard to find though, because they arent on even a semi-major label. i recently discoverd Lyrics Born. its also hip-hop, but it may be a little easier to understand. The Melvins are pretty good. sorry for rambling on, but hopefully these help you. Peace you dirty hippie!
the dandy warhols are too poppy and weak for me, like they have the talent, but not the right inspiration. oh, and this is supposed to be new/relatively new stuff? neutral milk hotel is very strange, but also very good. dinosaur jr.'s interesting, sebadoh's fucked but pretty good
I'm currently looking forward to hear Dirty Pretty Things, the new band from Carlos BarĂ¢t (ex-Libertine). I trust in Carl that it'll be good
I just want to second Umphrey's McGee they are a young bunch, just dropped out of college to be a band and they put on a hell of a show. Tea Leaf Green Rocks really hard. They are also pretty young up and commers. Their keyboards and guitar are incrediable. I don't know why more people don't know about Tea Leaf Green.
I'd say um is better than tea leaf green..they are ok..but um is pretty phenominal.. this summer at wakarusa my friends from groovatron had the amazing oppurtunity to jam w/ members of um and cheese...it was crazy! groovatron is also very young..they are about 23 to 25 they all decided not to go to college to stay in their band....they have been friends since they were todlers..it's amazing the high energy that flows on stage when they play..they can almost read each others mind.....they are a very visual band too...they put on commical skits and coreographed silly moves...and they sometimes wear funny costumes....they are just geeks and i love them for it....! i can't wait to go on the road again...
