How do i do it so it's not just "marked" as deleted? and how can I get rid of stuff already deleted but is still on my hard drive?
it depends how far you want to go, if you really wan to get rid of eveyrhting you need to format and write random 1's and 0s to teh drive - but that deletes everything..... for individual files theres tonnes of shareware programs for 'shredding' the information- anybody got any links? Or just google 'permanently deleting files'
remove the hard drive, wash it in gas, burn it, then run over it with a bull dozer...finally, toss it in the ocean...at least 10 mile off the coast so it won't wash up fact is, even formatting won't remove all old data....data can still be recovered
Correction: Formatting a whole disk (including all partitions) or just the partition that the data is on, WILL remove *all* data, unless you perform a QuickFormat. If you do the full thing, it WILL remove all of the data.
ok...test.... you format your drive, send it to me and i'll send back to you data that was there b4 you formatted it.....you game?
Now i remember there was quite a good piece of g4tv on this the other day, they showed how thermite and CHl were good at destroying hard drives as well as non-destructive methos, its on the g4 webite somewhere....
