Hey.. i was introduced to bluegrass through jamgrass mainly... LoS, YMSB, HBRSB, Stealin Strings, TBT... and then Old Crow Medicine Show... and i've been listening for about a year or so....now i've been tryin to find more bluegrass bands and musicians... i've found and love Earl Scruggs... Doc and Merle Watson... Old And In The Way.... and im just looking for other more traditional sounding bluegrass... i'd also like some older upbeat bluegrass bands like OCMS.. any replies would be great... websites would be even better... thanks
Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley are both sweet.... I don't have websites, but I don't think their website have mp3's anyhow.
wild and blue were a real good group, not sure if their still together as i haven't heard of them in a long while
Actually, I should say The Stanely Brothers... One of 'em died early on... The Osborne Brothers might be worth checking out to. Also, I think Del Mcorouy.. Something like that.
Hot Rize, Del mccoury band, and a band thats newer, but has sort of an old timey sound is King wilkie, Old and in the way ! ,carter family, ralph stanley, lonesome river band, james king, jd crowe and the new south, stanley brothers, josh williams, rhonda vincent , seldom scene, osborne bros, mac wiseman, tony rice, and any band that he was in , boone creek, ricky skaggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, doyle lawson and quicksilver
The pioneers of the style:Bill Monroe&The Bluegrass Boys,The Stanley Brothers, and Flatt & Scruggs. To my taste, the Stanley Brothers singing is the most soulful hillbilly singing ever.I recommend the boxset "The Starday Years."
