What do you think about this writer? I think that he's the best,he's the one... what do you think?????
although i do like his writing style, ive never really been a big fan of that fantasy stuff. i did read all the lotr's though.
An excelent writer. I like his stuff alot. His attention to depth and detail is wonderful. I think that his story "Leaf by Niggle" is an alegory of how he wrote. In that story, Niggle wanted to paint a leaf, which meant he had to paint the twig it was on, the branch it was connected to, the tree, the forest, the hill, etc.
I like his writingstyle and books very much. He's not the best writer imo, but he's one of my favourites for sure!
he's an excellent writer and his imagination/intellect overwhelm me. However, LOTR is not the best fantasy story ever.
have anybody heard about Sapkowski? He is a writer from Poland. He wrote "Wied¼min". It's a story about one warrior fighting against monsters and looking for his doom.
Nope, never heard of him.. I think Tolkien is very pasionate at what he did.. he was able to create a new world... with his own language, terrains. WOW!!
some other great fantasy writers are george RR martin and steven erikson. I'd recommend both of them. Also robert jordan is the other biggie. People either love him or hate him though.
He's one of my favorite authors.. I love The Silmarillion and The Lord Of The Rings so much... Middle-Earth is like, part of me
if you guys like fantasy, then you might want to check into a writer named R.A. Salvatore. ive read two of his books, and there pretty good.
Tony Blair's Labour Manifesto has some pretty wild fantasy scenarios, too. It's also pretty good as spare toilet paper.
Has anyone bought the 50th anniversary edition from Barnes and Noble? They have went up $10 on the price since Xmas. I just wondered if it was worth the purchase, I am a avid book lover and collector. Its just for myself. It sells for $80 online now.
I'm reading the Hobbit for the first time and it is simply amazing! What I love about his books is the underlying environmentalistic tone, good is growing and green, evil is black and industrial. I suppose that the battle between Green and Black rages on to this day, with Green unfortunately on the losing side, and the world sliding into dirty hell. We can change this.
I just love his books. He has influenced me. yeah, everyone says that, hehe, its just true. you are never exactly the same since you have read The Lord of the rings.
I heard Peter Jackson was making a movie about the Hobbit at the end of the year....does anyone know if this is true or not?
I've heard that rumor. But, I've also heard that Chris Tolkein hold the copywrite for the Hobbit (unlike LOTR which is held by the publisher) and that Chris is not letting him ruin the Hobbit the way he ruined LOTR. (Edit- the rumor that I heard is that Christopher Tolkein won't sell the rights. The above opion of Jackson's movie are mine and should not be attrbuted to Chris Tolkein)
