    ok food stops coming to your shops .

    how long would it take before you become a cannibal

    I see most people becoming cannibals about christmas time ....quite a dark gothic image ...am I to postive do you think they would revert to cannibalism quicker than that .

    winters coming

    Five minutes.

    If the crap hits the fan I'll be the first to go feral.

    Remember never to eat the liver - it concentrates the toxins from the body - so human liver is very bad for you. The other cuts are fine though. Little like pork according to the literature. Have never tried it myself but over a week or so without food and the folks next door would have to watch out.

    No brains, blood, nervous tissue or liver, and cook it well.

    five minutes sounds like your overly keen I feel, although I suppose its practical in that you would not lose any strength before you started eating people .

    The first ones to go feral shore up the guns, the first aid supplies and the water - it's the ones who realise too late we're back to Lex Talionalis that get screwed.

    Shops? I think there are plenty of people in the world who manage without shops. Don't think many of them are Cannibals. They've got farms and stuff.

    well most people in this country buy from shops, most dont keep more than a few weeks at most in the house or grow that much of their food .

    the uk produces I think 70 % of its food but thats with tractors that run on oil the food itself is produced using oil.

    Pesticides are made from oil;

    Commercial fertilizers are made from ammonia, which is

    made from natural gas, which will peak about 10 years

    after oil peaks;

    most irrigation is fueled useing oils or burning some form of fossil fuel

    tractors and trailers are

    constructed and powered using oil;

    Food storage systems such as refrigerators are

    manufactured in oil-powered plants, distributed across

    oil-powered transportation networks and usually run on

    electricity, which most often comes from natural gas or

    coal;

    if you go into a shop you will see food from all over the world, but it got there because of oil its packed often in things like plastics made by oil, and then you buy it with a credit card made of oil

    now we could have a event sars or bird flu that could disrupt supply lines we could have something like peak oil where oil just gets more and more expensive and you get wars over whats left, anything could clear the shelves .

    and most people do not have that much food put by for winter we depend on a system that may not allways work .

    its coming up to winter how much food do your local farms have its not like years ago when most of our food was produced locally .

    so youve eaten the sheep and cats and pet ponys with everyone else chasing the same cats sheep and ponys, then the only thing you can eat is people you can eat some wild plants but people might be a good option .

    when I was younger I was a morman and we used to keep at least a years supply of food and water in the house so really for the first year a famine wouldnt have effected me .
    .
    we also produced a hell of a lot of the food that we ate and I think if something bad had happened that would have emptied the shelves we could have grown all our own food given that years warning .

    Good point - but one has to be sure that it is indeed a long-term event, I would hate to go rogue and then have the authorities restore order the next day. I also think your being overtly careful about the brain and CNS. Spongiform encephalopathy is not that common and it is slightly more likely to be found in cows, deer etc.

    Did not repeat the entire post because of space but I thought it was very well thought out. Do Mormans keep firearms?

    lots of american mormans do keep guns ,when I was in it wasnt a commandment to keep weapons , but it was a commandment to keep at least a years supply of food and water also to grow as much food as you could .

    in my branch we had a lot of former soldiers sas royal marines para for some reason the church seemed to attract that type of person .

    it isnt that differcult to practice food storage all you need to do is plan it and buy say a couple of cans a week extra and rotate them .

    you can get a years supply of food in staples oats rice wheat beans honey oil ect ect for a few hundred pounds .
    most of the best book on the subject are written by mormans who take it very seriously there should be some good resources online

    apart from food it was also advised to have other survival type equipment, do first aid courses and such, I do remember I think seeing firearms in some of the lists of things to possibly get .

    also you were encouraged to help non mormans get prepared if they would

    I don't know about turning cannibal.....but I could see myself abandoning all pacificism and getting a gun to defend my allotment....in fact I see all the elderly men on our allotment site really really enjoying that scenario, they already put barbed wire on top of the entrance gate..................

    a dark picture
    a world where cannibalism rules outside the allotment, and some brave elderly men and moominmamma fight off the rabid hordes after their spuds and cabbages .

    A dark picture indeed.....and instead of a cheerful little daisy windmill marking the start of my allotment, the head of the first person to try and steal a pumpkin is mounted on a large spike ( come to think of it, if I catch the miscreant who has cut through the lock on my shed with boltcutters last night, I might just start the "cannibalsm rules" life style now:) )
