It was a very beautiful movie, and I loved the soundtrack! Reminded me a bit too much of Forest Gump, and I liked Forest Gump much better. Still, it deserves a good rating. Has anyone else seen it?

I don't care if the soundtrack is all Beatles songs,I don't like that movie. I don't know why, but I can't stand it when people remake Beatles songs. People expect that just because it's about a retarded guy it's going to be all tearjerky and emotional and moving, but I just thought it was dumb. Forrest Gump is so much better.

I suppose you do have a point...
Hey! look! Our locations are exactly the same! How funny! "Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come..."

I liked this movie. I thought it was pretty moving and I really like Sean Penn. I didn't care too much for the soundtrack. I love the Beatles but I can't stand listening to others cover their songs.

This movie pulled at my heartstrings.. It reminded me of my mentally challenged uncle who was the happiest, most loving person.. until he died, of course, and how I was so young when I knew him and I can only recall happy times with him and how much I considered him to be a beautiful person and a true friend.. I guess that's just me, personally. Forest Gump is my favorite movie, but I do love I Am Sam. As for the soundtrack? I don't believe that anybody can do an excellent beatles cover, but I wont be harsh about that-- the music was just fine, but if it was all original.. That would've added so much more. I enjoyed this movie, though. I cry whenever I see it.

i don't really think I Am Sam is all that similar to Forrest Gump, except for the 60's-geared soundtracks and the fact that the movies both follow the lives of 2 mentally impaired men. i guess you could also say that they both show the men's struggles to overcome their situations with love, yet i think that Forrest Gump tried to show the events of the 60's through the eyes of a "simple" man, whereas I Am Sam showed the difficulties a mentally impaired man faced in society... anyway, that's just a personal opinion...

i do think both movies are great though! sean penn deserved at least an oscar nomination, because his acting was sensational

It had it's good points and bad points. It did make me cry, a lot.
I didn't quite like his daughter. She was a little too mature for her age, but then so am I.

It was too sad a movie for me to watch all of the way through. I really thought that all of the Beatles covers sucked except for Ben Harper's "Strawberry Fields Forever" and Eddie Vedder's "You've Gotta Hide Your Love Away". Those are dedicated covers.

Yeah, I hate Beatles covers. You just can't capture the good old sixties rock.

it was a long time ago, but i liked it. me and my friend imitated sean penn for days after that - "ihop, tuesdays at ihop.." and when they're complimenting each others clothes in court, that was awesome.

I cant stand that style of movies. You know the ones where some actor decides he wants to win an award so he plays a mentally handicapped person like Tom Hanks did in Forrest Gump? It's just weak and lame to no end. It was said best in Get Shorty about Danny Devitos character, "Didnt he win an award for playing the crippled gay guy who climbed Mt. Everest?" Sorry, but IMO that shit is tired.
