lol yeah, I know what you're thinking. "God, but where is she coming from?" :p

It's terrible, I'm a huge fan of science-fiction movies, and I never even seen the Star Wars movies... not the original ones, not the new ones... but I saw Spaceballs, though! Great movie. It makes me wanna watch Star Wars. I was gonna get them on DVD, but they don't exist anymore for some strange reason (I seriously looked everywhere).

I must be the only person in the occidental world who's never seen these movies.

Go ahead, make fun of me :)

wow, how could you people have missed star wars??? I guess I grew up in a time where every kid had seen each episode of the star wars "original" trilogy. I was 3 years old by the time the first star wars was released, so I was a little too young then, but I watched the first 2 films by 81 or 82, and then I saw return of the jedi in the theatre. I have also seen the latest releases, which pale in comparison. the first three starwars movies are where its at.

I think they only just (or are only just) coming out on DVD.

Don't feel bad though. I had a "friend" who had never seen Apocolypse Now until a couple weeks ago. At least you'll be able to sleep after Star Wars, unlike my "friend" after aforementioned Vietnam War movie.

well, it took me a good 5 years before I even watched the Matrix, and even then, I only had seen the last half. I still havent seen the second or the third. Nor do they really interest me. The Matrix was a bit overrated for me, since everyone and their mother told me I needed to see it. I wasnt that impressed. I get that way with most action films. They tend to bore me with their predictability. I still havent even seen the terminator films.

Spaceballs was my favorite movie when I was a kid and so was Star Wars. I haven't watched either of them in a while though...

I've never seen Star Wars either. But then again, there's alot of other movies I haven't seen that everyone else has (E.T., Indiana Jones, Terminator, etc). I'm just not a big fan of movies..

I liked the first three they were good.
You wait nearly 2 decades (not me personaly:) ) for the prequels and they are absolute shite. george lucas must be laughing all the way too the bank.

I'm glad someone else agrees with me on that - i was gutted when i saw them. I also forced some people to admit they were terrible which was quite funny.

I haven't seen them either! I was talking to my boyfriend about that the other day, and he was astonished. "I must be the first person to freak out about you not seeing Star Wars!" Yep. I've never really been interested in them.

I dont know, it just doesnt seem to have the charm of the first three. Plus everything seems to be so digitized and has way too much special effects. The original star wars , the way it was filmed looked so much more primitive (which appeals more to me). Yoda was a puppet, not some digitally created creature in the prequels. The spaceships all had a black box around them, which you could tell they were just miniature props on a black background.... In the prequels, all the settings and backgrounds make the movie feel so unreal. At least in the first three movies, they shot scenes in real locations, not in some studio with a green screen. Too many digitally created characters (where are all the great costumes from the first three??). Planet of the Apes is another sci fi film that appealed to me because of the costumes and the settings.....

I think thats why I would personally see claymation than cgi created effects. Maybe its the time and preparation and hard labor thats done with creating these films. CGI makes it so easy, and like I said, doesnt have the same charm.

another thing about the prequels is that the plot line is pretty boring (although attack of the clones is a bit more interesting), and the characters have no depth, it seems.

Thank you for telling me about it :) I'll know what to expect... anyways, I've always been more interested in the original ones that the new. And when they first came out, I thought they were just sequels, but when someone explained to me that they were prequels I didn't understand, I thought (and still think) that it was stupid to do that now, like 30 years later, and that it would ruin the charm of the original 70's movies. I'll see them anyways, but what I really want to see are the first ones.

Just too add.. there was plot development with the first 3. We only needed maybe 2 more not 3 . Most of the last 2 were mere self indulgence. I am aware that GL was aware of merchandising back then ... but he realy took the piss this time round. throwing in characters just for the hell of it. Also the look was epic , the story was not.

i think george thinks he has the same depth as JRR Tolkien wich he has not. He tries to convince , he just wants to entertain people ..but you don't take this bloody long making films just to entertain.:p

I haven't Star Wars either but it's no surprise since I am not a fan of sci-fi.
