How does one go about looking for something to write for? I don't need a living wage yet, just money to save up for moving to a place where I won't have my education paid by the state. Saving up, you know. I'm a college student now, AP-ed out of English, have writing samples and references. Where do you suggest I look?
go to the library. Look at the Writer's Market, most recent one you can get. Call to make sure the contact is legit. Some companies use a fake one so they know where the submission/query came from. So they can ignore it. BUT before you do that, can you REALLY write? Or do you simply think you can? Most paid writing is journalism. It is not remotely connected to great English papers. When I was in school I raked in the bucks by "translating" journo-ese into academic language. Editing other student's papers can get some $$, too. Run an ad in a school paper and hang fliers.
Jornalism is a lot more then just being a good English student? Do you have samples of your writing, Drummin? Just curious...I wanan see what you write.
What do you write? What sells best is 1) content for websites 2) erotic material 3) 'how to' and 'self help'. Try a site like absolutewrite.com where many freelancers hang out on the forums.
