hi all i was just wondering what some of your care proceeders of how you handle clothon the road camping travel trailer like situation. we will be on the road in less than a month and we do cloth just trying to prepare, and we will proboly line dry when we can and i imagine will try to stop at a laundry mat every once in a while to get in a good wash and kind of catch up on the laundry as there are 6 soon to be 7 of us.
I've never been hiking/camping with anyone with a young baby, and have no kids myself, but I know there are people that do it. You might want to find a hikers/campers site there are probably a lot more people there and you'll have a better chance of finding the info you need.
get really large zipping lock bags or a plastic bin that will seal air tight. also add baking soda each time a new diaper goes in. Store dry to cut down odor, but you could add a soak the night before you plan to wash (or some 12 or 8 hour span before) Plan on a wash at least each 3 days, as the scent will travel. And get in all your clothes (voice of sad experience)
I don't have any kids either, but I have known people that did what Drummin mentioned. They had a 5 gallon bucket, with a tight lid...put the dirty diapers in that until they can be washed.
that 5 gal bucket with lid on a rutted road is also a hippy /road rat washing machine! spend a bouncy day "agitating" the clothes (pack loosely), rinse at a rest area pipe and hang to dry.
all i know is my parents used cloth diapers for me when i was a youngin shittin my pants.....they just washed em like normal laundry....
pity we have as a culture forgotten how to handle diaper laundry, esp since most paper diapers leak onto the rest of the clothes anyway.
