First off i must say this site is my favorite site, Nem your a genius! Ok me and my buddies are going to be visting the Dam probably in Septmeber 06 theres about 6 of us 19-20yr olds going, so when is the best time to buy the tickets for the best rates and where. BTW we are in FL Which Hotel do you guys recommend as far as location and price we were thinking around 60 bucks a night. I heard this from another site is this true??... Legislation: For anyone over the age of 18, hashish and marijuana are free, legl and available. You can buy a daily maximum of 5 gram hash or weed in municipality-controlled ´Coffeeshops´.
...the flight and hostel stay for the 22 nights is running me $950 even... Where did you get a price like that igrowzmetrees ???
thats easy...$444 after taxes,round-trip,Continental from here in Jersey... $505 split between 3 diffrent hostels...sure its no 5 star telly but im 19..i just need a bed to sleep in...cheers
$444 in december 05 maybe....(terrible time to go besides the holidays) continental wants $570 for end of april - may 06 as of now typically if ticket prices drop for my favorite time (end of april thru may) they tend to drop around dec or january prior..... I'm hoping that my april/may ticket for 06 drops a hundred in a few months. the risk is that if the tickets sell quickly before january, the few remaining ones will be more expensive (plan can backfire based on rules of supply and demand) fuel prices and airline bankrupcy has definately raised prices. I went last week of april this year and bought my tickets in early march and only paid $450 but i had 1 connecting flight in france
Where did you book your flight and hotel at? Me and my buddies are the same age as you, so we dont need a 5 star hotel either, im new to the forums and this will be our first trip to amsterdam so any personal tips/tricks that you know of please feel free to share. cheers
the price i gave is for Nov. 14 - Dec. 8..i know the weather will probally be crap but i want to go in the winter so thats not a problem...as far as booking a hostel, i use hostelworld.com as a research platform...i haven't booked anything online and will be doing walk-in purchases instead..the tickets are at $444 after taxes at Continental.com...good luck...cheers
smart move only using hostel world as a platform.... i have done so in the past and then googled the address of the apartments i find on there. if the owner has a direct site you'll save money booking with them. on hostel world owners get more then there asking and hostelworld gets a cut of the extra money.
Well it would be cheaper if your good at "haggling". If you book online your price is locked pretty much, say now if you see a room online for 60 euro a night , go there and try to get it for 50? I took my trip in feb. 05,weather was shitty and i didnt feel like toting luggage around all day. Now that i somewhat know my way around, reservation's wont be necessary.
not to mention that most hostels only book about 30% of their rooms online...the rest are always reserved for walk-ins...
damn..with 6 people maybe ya should put your $$ togethor and get a private room or even an apartment...my advice would be get a room with like 2 beds and ya'll can split it up and crash on the floor...thats if ya cool with that..i've personally done it hundreds of times..personally, when i get to Mokum i'll be doing very little sleeping so all i need is a stash for my luggage and a bath...you'll be cool either way...cheers
Alright where can i find an apartment online for all of us, and should i book online or should it be a walk in Where and when should i book my ticket if we are going on Sep 15 06 - Sep 26 06
Greetings BigOleBong. Here are a couple of good choices for you. Don't buy your tickets until 2 to 3 weeks before leaving. Then use www.priceline.com to get the best deal. Always book your room well in advance to get what you want. www.citymundo.com http://amsterdam.rentalo.com I have rented from both places and can recommend them with confidence.
those are the best links, 50bucks a night per person isnt that bad for an apartment insnt that bad right
It's not bad at all. You get a kitchen, livingroom and bathroom, besides a place to sleep. You can save on food by shopping and stocking your kitchen. And having an apartment makes you feel way more local. The hotel tourist's will envy you when they see you putting that key in your door. SP
