Greetings Tribe, This is my second only post in this board, and first in this forum; though I’ve been on the net since about 1990. This board appears to be pretty complete with a lot of well thought out forum topics as well as frequent and interesting posts. I am trying to write a historical novel about the Santa Barbara, California area in about 1969-1970. This project has been a pet of mine for quite a few years, but I tabled it for over a decade until I visited SB a few months ago on a business trip. I got excited about starting in again. My leading characters are two barefoot 18 year old ladies, just heading into their first year at UCSB, but a LOT of stuff was going on in those times, and in that place. nods, and peace, Spenser
Hi Spenser, welcome to the forums. The novel sounds absolutely awesome, I cannot wait to read it when it's done. About 15 years ago I was writing a similar story myself (no particular plans for publishing it though).
I may have forgot to mention, I've been an East Coaster, except for about a dozen business and pleasure trips to the West Coast. Most recently a trip in June which took me up to Santa Barbara. Though I've found lots of good information online about the area and the times, specifically UCSB about 1970, I am hoping to make contact with others from the Central coast of CA, from Monterey down to Ventura, who may be able to help with local facts and information. Doesn't really matter whether its from the past or the present, it's all good and useful. Anyone who may have been in Santa Barbara from about '65 to '75 or so would be a -goldmine- ! nods, peace, blessings, Spenser
