these past few years have seen a minor explosion in new books and articles about the forthcoming 'galactic alignment'. the centre of our galaxy is the milky way. the particularly dense part of the milky way that crosses the tropical sign of late sagittarius is known as the galactic centre. the galactic centre is seen as the incredible centre of light and power around which our sun rotates. as we on earth rotate around the sun, the sun itself rotates around the galactic centre. come the 21st of december 2012, the point of the (northern) winter solstice, the sun and the galactic centre will all be in alignment. this event occurs every 13,000 years and is seen by many ancient civilisations as being not only the start of the aquarian age but also the beginning and end point of time itself. the mayans, for example, prophesied that 21 december 2012 would be the end of this time schemata and the beginning of the next and the mayan long count calender finishes counting on this date. in other ancient cultures time itself was understood to be organised in four ages: the golden age, the silver age, the bronze age and the iron age. it is believed by many ppl that we are now living in the iron age, and in the last few years of the iron age. this theory says that come 2012 time itself will reach a kind of null point through which it must pass before becoming transformed again into a golden age. characteristics of the golden age are time moves slowly, much slower than we are used to it now, and ppl exist in an enlightened state where love, trust and truth naturally prevail. conversely, the iron age is characterised by the sensation of time moving quickly and during this age the world is run by greed, violence, and rank materialism. the iron age brings forth great wars, disease, hunger, and catastorphic weather events: exactly the kind of things we are witnessing now and have done for the past century. it is believed, for instance, that the previous ice age occured about 13,00 years ago when the last galactic alignment took place. the cross at hendaye also foretold of this time: the end of the iron age in which the northern hemisphere will be trialled by fire. this could be allegorical and not necessarily literal but all cultures seem to suggest that we will be faced by grave and momentous changes. it may well be, and this is the way i look at it, that the end of the iron age which has brought so much unhappiness and suffering to the world cannot end fast enough and with the start of a new golden age we will have the opportunity to renew our forgotten links to the stars and the heavens and learn to live on earth in accordance with nature and truth. such a change frightens many but for those who are prepared, and for those who already eschew, or try to, greed, dishonesty, violence and selfishness the end of the iron age is nothing to fear. here are two links you might want to explore which discuss the four ages and galactic alignment: http://www.earthportals.com/Portal_Messenger/alignment2012.html http://www.jayweidner.com/2012Topology.html
another take on the golden age is the idea that the christian concept of 'the day of judgement' actually refers to the day when the winter solstice point is aligned with galactic centre, due to occur in december 2012. past civilisations placed much store in the equinoxes and solstices and seem to have been aware of the 26,000 year cycle of the precession of the equinoxes. it is now known that light takes 26,000 years to travel to earth from galactic centre, suggesting strongly that our own planetary cycles are closely synchronised with the greater cycles of the galaxy. when alignment comes many prophesy doom and disaster befalling us and the planet (not that there isn't already doom and disaster in the world ). this may happen because of the potential for posionous gases to blow from the galactic centre straight into the face of our sun and thence on to us on earth. irridium i believe is the danger chemical to watch out for. but just as some kind of luminuous and invisible shield protects earth from the chaotic dangers of falling meteorites and space debris crashing onto our planet, a companion shield of luminosity existing on an ethereal plane, it's hoped, will protect the world from such dangers from deep space. such a luminous shield, it's been argued, is something that has to be upheld and maintained consciously and consistently by human beings who are connected to the shield through a common spirit of place. it isn't being negative or pessimistic to say that, collectively, we have fallen into deep amnesia of the primary duty we, as ppl invested with the responsibility of looking after our planet and our safe and assured futures, once promised to discharge: probably at the beginning of the 26,000 year cycle that heralded our own golden age of this grand cycle. a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then of course and as time has accelerated on us the frenzied greed and inhumanity of ppl have become paramount (bad actions such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the resultant wars which are motivated by a lust for treasure and power irrespective of how many people are killed in the process, for example). the destructive actions of anti-love have, through the long march of the grand year, not only done violence to our very souls but may well have also destroyed the spiritual nutrients that keeps this luminous shield healthy, intact and working. this notion of the shield parallels what is occuring on the physical plane: through the release of greenhouse gases we have greatly damaged the ozone shield that once protected our atmosphere from the harmful rays of the sun. according to this theory our day of judgement will be decided when the galactic alignment arrives on december 21 2012. at this time we will know if, through the right actions of those now and before us, we have generated enough light and love to counter the forces of anti-love that have been busily plundering the earth as well as damaging the very luminosity that protects us all from extinction. in a none too subtle sense the earth and all of its ppl will face their great day of judgement as past, present and future actions shall directly determine if we survive in this form and on this planet. it will be a cliff hanger i'm quite sure. if u want to read more about this topic, see: http://esoterism.ro/english/great-cross-hendaye .php

yes it is scary. some ppl portend disaster, some sort of celestial catastrophe, while others are inclined to see it as a great spiritual awakening and renewal. it's hard to know what's going to happen but i think it will be nothing like we expect b/c of the fact that very great cycles of time and space are involved, quite beyond our capacity to envisage. our own earthly cycles, lunar cycles, solar returns, planetary returns, right up to the biggest cycle we can understand: the 26,000 year precession of the equinox, are small and piddling compared to those of the galaxies to which we are linked. a lot of this knowledge was once common but is now lost to us which is why we are lucky that enough remains of the ancient religions and writings to help us decode some of these mysteries. the timing is the thing ppl want to know. when will it happen? i don't know about you but i can feel time getting quicker, almost every day. that they say is a sure sign we are getting close to the big changeover.
a mysterious object emitting powerful gamma rays has been discovered at the centre of the milky way. from the uk organisation "the particle physics and astronomy research council" the following report: High Energy Mystery lurks at the Galactic Centre A mystery lurking at the centre of our own Milky Way galaxy - an object radiating high-energy gamma rays - has been detected by a team of UK astronomers working with international partners. Their research, published today (September 22nd) in the Journal Astronomy and Astrophysics, was carried out using the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.), an array of four telescopes, in Namibia, South-West Africa. The Galactic Centre harbours a number of potential gamma-ray sources, including a supermassive black hole, remnants of supernova explosions and possibly an accumulation of exotic 'dark matter' particles, each of which should emit the radiation slightly differently. The radiation observed by the H.E.S.S. team comes from a region very near Sagittarius A*, the black hole at the centre of the galaxy. According to most theories of dark matter, it is too energetic to have been created by the annihilation of dark matter particles. The observed energy spectrum best fits theories of the source being a giant supernova explosion, which should produce a constant stream of radiation. Dr. Paula Chadwick of the University of Durham said, "We know that a giant supernova exploded in this region 10,000 years ago. Such an explosion could accelerate cosmic gamma rays to the high energies we have seen - a billion times more energy than the radiation used for X-rays in hospitals. But further observations will be needed to determine the exact source." Professor Ian Halliday, Chief Executive of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) which funds UK involvement in H.E.S.S. said; "Science continues to throw out the unexpected as we push back the frontiers of knowledge." Halliday added "The centre of our Galaxy is a mysterious place, home to exotic phenomena such as a black hole and dark matter. Finding out which of these sources produced the gamma-rays will tell us a lot about the processes taking place in the very heart of the Milky Way." However, the team's theory doesn't fit with earlier results obtained by the Japanese /Australian CANGAROO instrument or the US Whipple instrument. Both of these have detected high-energy gamma rays from the Galactic Centre in the past (observations from 1995-2002), though not with the same precision as H.E.S.S, and they were unable to pinpoint the exact location as H.E.S.S. has now done, making it harder to deduce the source. These previous results have different characteristics to the H.E.S.S. observations. Each Yuga is like the season of a super-cosmic year, even greater than the cosmic year of the precession of the equinoxes. When the Earth came into its current phase of manifestation and the first Yuga began ('Satya' Yuga, meaning 'Purity') humanity was barely removed from its original state of God-like innocence. This was the original Golden Age. As time progressed the planet underwent the influence of a negative descending spiral, and the quality of life in each successive Yuga became further and further removed from the knowledge of truth and natural Law (in other words, 'Reality'). In the second, Treta Yuga (Silver Age) spiritual awareness decreased by one fourth and by the time of Dvapara Yuga (Copper Age) negativity had a 50% holding. In the Kali Yuga the vibration has become pretty murky and humanity is labouring against heavy odds. Righteousness (right-use-ness) has diminished to scant one fourth of its original strength. Throughout our current history we have created and been assailed by all the evils of Pandora's box. No wonder the human race is having such a difficult time. But the turning point has now arrived, and the dawn once more sheds its light on a confused and ignorant planet. The Vishnu Purana, one of the oldest sacred texts of India says about the Kali Yuga, "The leaders who rule over the Earth will be violent and seize the goods of their subjects... Those with possessions will abandon agriculture and commerce and will live as servants, that is, following various possessions. The leaders, with the excuses of fiscal need, will rob and despoil their subjects and take away private property. Moral values and the rule of the law will lessen from day to day until the world will be completely perverted and agnosticism will gain the day among men." There are many other references to this division of time. For instance, in the Bible, Nebuchandnezzar's dream (Daniel 2:31-45) was of a bright and terrible image with a head of finest gold, chest of silver, hips of brass and legs of iron. The feet and toes were of iron mixed with clay. This image was destroyed by stone, unmade by human hands, which crushed the feet to dust and the pieces blew away in the wind. Although Daniel the prophet interpreted the various metals as the world empires which succeeded Babylon, the dream also has a more cosmic meaning. It represents the great yugas. The iron legs are the Iron Age or Kali Yuga which deteriorates at the end of its cycle into the present unstable civilisation symbolised by the feet of iron and clay. The prophet interpreted the stone as the true kingdom of God which would replace the other civilisations as the real and lasting Kingdom. THE END OF A WORLD This end only appears to be the "end of the world," without any reservation or specification of any kind, to those who see nothing beyond the limits of this particular cycle; a very excusable error of perspective it is true, but one that has nonetheless some regrettable consequences in the excessive and unjustified terrors to which it gives rise in people who are not sufficiently detached from terrestrial existence; and naturally they are the very people who form this erroneous conception most easily, just because of the narrowness of their point of view. ...the end now under consideration is undeniably of considerably greater importance than many other, for it is the end of a whole Manvantara, and so of the temporal existence of what may rightly be called a humanity, but this, it must be said once more, in no way implies that it is the end of the terrestrial world itself, because, through the "reinstatement" that takes place at the final instant, this end will itself immediately become the beginning of another Manvantara...if one does not stop short of the most profound order of reality, it can be said in all truth the "end of a world" never is and never can be anything but the end of an illusion. i agree, that what may happen is some people begin to stop being so deluded. i dont think the world is going to rain fire in the year 2012. i think acid rain..is the house effect..and either all these things like pollution and greed will grow and get more crazy..or we'll calm down asa human race....but what the fuck have we done??? as i get older...the weather gets angrier and now wars are raging over oil. its insane. its not sustainable, and we are literally wrecking the planet.
