First of all, a big thankyou to all those on the forum, although I havnt posted much, I do follow and have picked up invaluble tips! (Nemesis... you are sort of my guide who I have never met!)

I've smoked cannabis before, however over here in the UK joints are always made with tobaco, I cant stand it!! When I went over to the Dam last january, some of the pre rolled joints we purchased were also made from tobaco. So this time i'm looking to use a pipe.... however, this means buying non pre made joints: Eeek!

Really what I would appreciate knowing is, once you have purchased a gram or two of whatever how do you go about putting it in the pipe?! Sounds silly, but do you have to take the seeds out or what!!
    Much thanks
    Lewis

Most weed should be seedless, so just pinch off a bit and stuff it in the pipe.

Ask the Budtender if they have a grinder that you can borrow, remove any stems and grind up enough budlets for a bowl and you're golden!

A grinder helps to breaks the weed up to a smokeable consistency. If you don't know how to use one, have the Budtender give ya a quick lesson.

    Have a great trip!

yeah man you need a grinder as that is how the weed will come all hard and hard to break in your hand but it can be done but you tend to lose some crushing it in the palm of your hand. There shouldnt be any buds or seeds if your just buying a bag here and there unless you buy a certain large amount or strain. Why not check out some hash or better still ask for a vaporizer, that will do it have you scurrying back to your hotel in no time, lol.

Cheers guys, So do you find most the dealers approachable, I mean I won't be ripped off or anything, and they will be happy to help out?

Most coffeeshops are friendly and do you know what? I've found that if you're patient even the more gruff-mannered will at least answer your questions. If I spot a weed I don't know I'll ask what it's like and/or if they recommend one - after all these guys appreciate their weed most don't mind talking about it if they're not too busy.

Everywhere has a price list and if not already bagged and weighed, it'll be weighed in front of you. So you'll only get ripped off if you're not paying attention.

Further to the comments above, you're just as well off buying a grinder but buy the cheapest you can find - a cheap plastic or wooden one is more than appropriate for your short stay.

    When are you off?

    I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I'm conscious that my Dutch is pretty non-existant (will work on that!) and I hate that when visiting anywhere abroad. I asked my Dutch friends how they felt about people just assuming they spoke English and they all described it as arrogant; yes of course they do but if you approach someone in the wrong way and with little respect for their language you can occasionally step on toes. If I'm ever not sure I always start by saying 'I hope your English is better than my Dutch' - invariably they say yes straight away (the Dutch are nothing if not confident!) and are happy to help.

I'll be over the weekend after you for a gig so tidy up after yourselves!

while grinders serve some purposes, a true Connoisseur will notice that they take away from the taste of the ganja....

but if your asking bout seeds :p

Hey koopa! Good to see ya chimin' in on this one.

I totally disagree with your statement though.

Why do you feel that using a grinder degrades the smoking experience?

I've found that by carefully removing any stems and tapping the grinder out properly after use, that nothing is missing except hard chunks of bud and stems that don't smoke so well.

I love ya man, but please elaborate. My status as "a true Connoisseur" is strongly intact, and I do use a grinder.

the trichomes"thc glands" get destroyed, and since most respectful grower's harvest when they "the trichome's" are at their peak, to ensure the best possible high. we should follow suit an try to get high as possible, by keeping the tri's intact.but that's just my opinion, i'm usually wrong most the time

Thanks for the reply cad. Your point is well taken and makes perfect sense in many ways.

Not sure if the trichomes are actually destoryed in the grinding process as much as dispersed among the vegatative matter.

When vaporizing or rollin' doobs, the ground weed/hasj works much better than chunks of either.

I think it's more about having evenly cured product so you're able to tap the trichs out of the grinder. I've smoked some amazing kif out of the bottom of some multi chamber, screen catching grinders.

Lol! Gotta love stoners debating - we're sooooo nice to each other....

I quite happily use a grinder, whatever I may be losing in the stone I get back in the ease of preparation of my weed - I get no joy from skinning up especially without my little tray at home (everyone has one right?), so a grinder is perfect to use 'on the go'. Plus, I'll just smoke some more if I don't think I got enough THC! I think a grinder is perfect for hopping around coffeeshops.

As Ictricty said, I figure they just gets dispersed amongst the veggie matter.

On the subject of trichomes - anyone seen bubblehash being made?

Nice to spot some familiar names like Koopa & Ictricity; I haven't been around for a while - hope you all had a great Queensday despite me not joining you (or maybe BECAUSE I didn't!!).

Although I'm fairly experienced (in A'dam and my home country), I still ask questions and get recommendations. Most of the coffeeshop folk are great at making recommendations on weed or hash, and will loan a pipe, bong or help you roll it. I don't recommend buying pre-rolled joints, as they are mixed with tabacco and kinda crappy. Ask for what you want (get high, get stoned, strong, weak, depending on mood, time of day, etc.) and hope for advise. Most will help you out and if they don't, leave and find a shop with helpful staff, there are plenty of places out there that have great customer service.

Also, I generally just pick up a cheap grinder and pipe as well as a few lighters when I first arrive, and then I have options if the shops are busy. If so, I might ask them to roll me a joint with weed purchased by the gram. Again, most coffeeshop employees are really helpful if they have time and if you're polite. I've even had the employees sit down at my table and hang and discuss the smoke as well as other random topics.

Be polite and take their cues as to if they want to help or not, and find a place you're comfortable. You'll have a great time!

Agreed there Shiny J. It's hard to get too worked up when you're amongst the kind friends we've made here. BTW, it's good ta see YOU back! Also, nice link to a much beloved episode from POT-TV.

Next Queensday Shiny?!! I hope so mi amigo. You're not being there last year was not the cause of it being such a cool event. It would've been that much better had you attended.

Off to smoke more herb and make more peace. LOL; Where you at with your rebuttal over the grinder issue Koopa?
