yeah man .........christians / buddists / athiests (whatever that means ) only jestin man / infact the whole planet should play and listen to that tune whilst smokin a big fat doobie........... yeah dudes .................the doobie brothers ............god bless peace
The story of the man Jesus is well enough, good intentioned, and for the most part morally just in my eyes. However, Jesus is not alright with me. His existence (or fictional story thereof) spawned a terrible menace on the human race (which admitably had been only been unprecedented in the degree). Nevertheless I find his resultant philosophy a pervasive hinderance on human potential. I am all for cheeba advocacy though....
And what do you suppose humans could achieve without Jesus? The problem with humanity is that it wants to achieve without Jesus. Humans want to reach a self-achieved state of utopia. Endlessly humans try to reach a "higher potential" to make the world a perfect place. Hamans cannot make the world a perfect place by themselves because they are inherently imperfect. The only highest potential that humans can achieve is truth, Ultimate Truth. and that is what Jesus came to reveal. Without Jesus there is no hope.
I don't know what we could achieve without Jesus (or if he ever existed), but without Christianity we could achieve, at least, a little more peace and freedom. I think you answered your own question. According to you, without Jesus we're absolutely nothing. But that's Christianity speaking, not Jesus. Jesus worshipped God, not himself. You worship Jesus, a man, not God. Or, if Jesus was God and worshipped himself, then in order to follow Jesus you must worship yourself as well. Without Christianity, there is hope.
You must be careful not to judge Christianity or Jesus by nations that consist of a Christian majority. No nation that I can think of is ruled by a truely Christian government. There may be Christians in the goverment but the government is secular and free and seperate from the Christian Church. I was assuming you dislike Christianity because so called Christian nations are initiating war.
well, as long as you still find jesus' resultant philosophy a pervasive hinderance on human potential... only kidding thumontico
i actually sang that song with my band at a summer sounds festival here...everyone was into it.... Jesus...He's my friend Jesus......He's my friend He took me by the hand... let me to the promiseland.. Jesus...He's my friend *sigh* awesome classic, that's my kinda worship tune
I'm with you man. To the question "what could we acheive without Jesus" my answer is: nothing we haven't acheived anyways. Violence (religious or otherwise) is not limited to Christians, but then, nor is great works, kindness, or love. There is not much difference between Christian nations, Muslim nations, or pagan nations. All are full of the good and the bad, generous ones and greedy ones, the loving and hateful. Funny, though, this idea that humans are inherently imperfect. If that's so, does it not reflect poorly upon our Creator? Further, it is my belief that such an attitude is what keeps us in the gutter. You have the preacher telling you all your life that humans are imperfect and will always fail. Well, how does that encourage or foster success? What a dismal worldview, to know you'll always be a failure. Humans are perfect, in that we are not inherently flawed, and can with the proper mindset achieve anything.
the byrds version doesnt have that part it makes me sad... although, Nornam Greenbaum's Spirit in the Sky is more fun of a song, IMO
i'm pretty sure burby knows that, but he's saying that the byrds version doesnt have the part i posted.
i know...ive heard/listen to both... its just that part of the song is good, and i think the byrds doign it would be interesting, s'all
