hey whenevr i make any ghetto bongs and pipes i NEVER not once made a carb for anything cuz i never knew the point of it was..i always believed it just let valuable smoke out...but i kno there's reasons y they r there but idunno..any help?
Um, It makes hits ALOT less harsh. burn in a carb next time you go ghetto on a bong, and it'll be alot better.
A carb also allows the smoke to travel from the bong to your lungs much easier because you don't have to pull as hard. You only release the carb when the bong is full of creamy looking white smoke and you are ready to take the smoke into your lungs.
Yeah, the smoke doesn't escape the carb until you suck in, what happens when you smoke without a carb is the smoke stays in the bottle until you suck in, and even then it's impossible to clear it. The only way is to wait a really long time
think of the hole as being a secondary bowl with no weed in it (and its really just a hole in the side, but thats irrelevant). you want to keep sucking the smoke out of the chamber, without sucking more smoke in from the bowl and through the downpipe and through the water. while you take a hit, you cover the shotty/carb with your thumb, so the smoke comes from the bowl into the chamber and into your mouth, however you will notice that (since you never use a shotty), you always end up with a bong full of smoke that you can only get out once you finnish the bowl. most people dont want this, for theres actually probably more smoke in the chamber than there is in your lungs sometimes, and if you leave smoke int eh chamber too long, it goes stale and tastes horrible. so people smoke the weed, fill up teh chamber, then when theyre finnished their it, they open up teh shotty and keep inhaling. this then switches to this 'phantom bowl', and air rushes into the bong, following all the smoke that you will then be inhaling. i hope you understand. its how bongs should be. ghetto all the way!
lol i just explained it :S so that you clear the chamber of smoke in between hits... it ends up effecting the hit a lot. but if youve never done it i guess you wouldnt be able to imagine.
The main use of the carb, which has been explained in every possible way throughout this thread, is to help the smoke travel from the chamber to the lungs without leaving smoke in the chamber.
when you release the carb/shotty the smoke goes into your lungs faster and deeper i reckon because theres no need for the air to go through the water just the whole on the side
Putting carbs on many home made bongs is pointless. If you have ever used a real bong or seen a video of a person using a real bong youll see the true purpose of a carb. When you release the carb, the smoke shoots into your lungs and the chamber is COMPLETELY clear. For some reason on ghetto bottle bongs this does not work, I think its due to the chambers size and shape.
i dunno, it always works for me, you just gotta realise the mechanics involved in bongology though, doesnt have to be completely clear in order to work. if a bong doesnt have a shotty, ill make one
I would like to see you make a bottle bong with a carb which works ev en nearly as good as a glass bong.
after the HSC, if you show me a video of someone clearing a glass bong, i will make video of a ghetto one that clears just as fast. any bets, people?
