Ok...since my x-bf smashed my beautiful vintage Kent into a tree, I'm in search for a new bass. I like the semi-hollow, lighter basses as apposed to the Fender basses. Something not too heavy (as I am a smaller framed chic). I've taken a look at the local music shops and haven't been impressed. I'm in the process of getting any money I can from this asshole, along with my homeowners/auto insurance. I do like the hofner basses, and am looking for the bass that WANTS me to find them. Any suggestions?

Just thought I'd add, I AM including acoustic basses in my search, I figure that would be awesome for summer touring season!

I'd say a Ric because it's my favorite bass, but they're not light and they're a bit expensive.

Ever played an Ibanez? They're lightweight and good quality for the price.

Yeah, I don't think I can help you either. I'm all about the heavy basses. Sorry babe.

Get a MM Stingray, they're nice. I would'nt really advise you to get an acoustic. They're really not loud enough to be heard over an acoustic guitar(if you were going for an unplugged deal). Some more expensive acoustic basses can be heard fairly well.
Those Ashbory basses are really light, but they look kind of weird.

Aria makes a quite cheap semi-acustic bass. Also check out the DeArmond Starfire Bass. The last ones was made a couple of years ago and finding a used one shouldn't be that difficult. And it got that cool Jack Cassidy-vibe too.

Jojo, how much are you looking to spend?

Determining that will help narrow it down.

Warwick basses are really nice. Not too bulky/heavy, very slim neck and just totally ergonomic as hell. They use some veeery pretty woods sans pickguard. Probably not found everywhere but not really all that uncommon either, the one music store around here stocks 'em. Warwick is a German company and they only makes basses... Das Bass! Do a search for Warwick on Flea-Bay if you can't find them locally. ~7

Yeah, warwicks are great, but way too heavy. They're made out of bubinga, btw.
