Im currently reading both "Of Mice & Men" and "The Grapes of wrath" and am incredibbly interested in them.

Does anyone have a suggestion of what I should read next of his work?

If I remember right, East of Eden dealt a lot with the question of whether a man's character is determined by heredity or by what he makes of himself. It is a great book.

I was never a huge fan of steinbeck. We had to read 'Mice and Men' at my high school and although I done well for the test on it, I really didnt enjoy reading the book.

East of Eden is my favorite Stienbeck book but it is long, 600 pages ish. The Winter of Our Discontent is my second place and it is only 200 pages. They are both amazing novels the only differnce being East of Eden is like an epic story corvering universal moral themes while Winter is just a damn good book about a man trying to figure out his life.

And yeah I love Stienbecks imagry Winter takes place on the east coast and is described with amazing deatail like he had lived his whole life out there, while Eden takes place in California and is described in an equally impressive way. Its suprising he could describe the 2 differnt places so well. Stienbeck, definetly my favorite author.

East of Eden is one of my all time favorites. I re-read it once every year or so.

I thought The Grapes of Wrath was incredibly boring, though it had a good plot and moral... the american dream. However, I really enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men. I plan to read East of Eden and The Pearl soon.

I love Steinbeck. We read the Red Pony in 7th grade... everyone hated it, but I thought it was the greatest thing. I love the issues that he deals with in his writing.
