"At Harvard Business School, thirty years ago, George Bush was a student of mine. I still vividly remember him. In my class, he declared that "people are poor because they are lazy." He was opposed to labor unions, social security, environmental protection, Medicare, and public schools. To him, the antitrust watch dog, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Securities Exchange Commission were unnecessary hindrances to "free market competition." To him, Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was "socialism." Recently, President Bush's Federal Appeals Court Nominee, California's Supreme Court Justice Janice Brown, repeated the same broadside at her Senate hearing. She knew that her pronouncement would please President Bush and Karl Rove and their Senators. President Bush and his brain, Karl Rove, are leading a radical revolution of destroying all the democratic political, social, judiciary, and economic institutions that both Democrats and moderate Republicans had built together since Roosevelt's New Deal."

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

yeah, how nice it must be to live off of daddy's money, yet still call poor folks who bust ass 60 hrs/week for min wage "lazy".

hmm, sounds alot like some of the members of this board. No surprise there. If only all the little soldier boys really knew what their beloved president thought of them, perhaps they wouldn't be so willing to go die for his oil.

God will you please shut the fuck up about oil? I look down on welfare recipents, because i see rampant abuse of it. Some people need it sure, but not nearly as many who use it. The "New Deal" was socialism, no question. The government paid wages to many and pretty much created the beginnings of a welfare state.

umm, exactly where did welfare come up in this?

And if you wanna rampage about it, why not get into the whole 'corporate welfare' bullshit as well? They usually get more hand-outs & bail-outs than all of the welfare recipients in the US combined.....not to mention that taking shit like those enron fucks to court costs you a pretty penny. and how much "rampant abuse" do you get to see? Are you a social worker? Are you somehow involved in that system so that you can accurately make this claim?

If you don't wanna read about the oil, then get off the forums. Truth is that's half the reason for this war, rather you'd like to believe it or not. And it might not hurt for you to get over your socialism BS either. You think you don't need a real argument for what you say because you can always label something you disagree with as "socialism" and blow it off from there.

And you always blow about oil and how bush is bad, how am i any different? The New Deal led to the Great Society of Johnson, which has lain the groudwork for a welfare state. Now if you want to get a little check from the government that's great, i perfer working myself. Enron court costs eh? well here is a novel idea, let's not bother giving them a trial, we know they are guilty. So send them straight to jail, how's that sound? I work at a bank, for some odd reason every 1st, 3rd and 15th of the month, i see these flithy unwashed rednecks come in. They never come in at any other time, so i am led to believe that they are getting a monthly paycheck courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Alot of people get paid twice a month...or every other week, whatever. Especially laborers, construction etc. It's not so hard to believe that so many "dirty rednecks" might be coming in after work or during their breaks to pick up their checks on the 1st, 15th, or 30th/31st. My dad would probably one of those "dirty rednecks" you see coming in during his break to cash his check or deposit it. Sorry he wouldn't have time during his 15 min break to shower for your royal highness, the banker dude.

please show me how many times i BLOW about oil. I think I may have mentioned it like an astounding 2 times. You should stop ASSuming shit, especially when your so apparently clueless. You're free to hold any opinions you like....welfare sucks because you're a banker, bu$h is gawd, 2+2=7, whatever....but you shouldn't expect others to take anything you say seriously when you have absolutely no facts, logic, or reasoning to back them up.

BTW, bankers are crooked folk. I know this because I know some old college fucks who work in a few here and they say it's not unusual for a drawer to come up a grand short. They have this little scam they use to pull, they'd have a buddy come up to their window and they'd hand em like 3 or 4 hundred $$$'s. Why sponge off of uncle sam when you can rip off someone else's hard earned cash? ;) But I'm sure you're different.

this is just one section from my old website, just goes to show......

Over 11 million children in America live below the poverty level.
    -----
Over 1 billion people worldwide live in absolute poverty.
    -----
Approx. 4 million children go hungry every year in the US.
    -----
There are appox. 174 million Malnourished children worldwide.
    -----
The richest 1% of US population own almost half of all property, While 80% own only 16%.
    -----
In 20 years, the income of the richest 20% US families has increased by almost 50%, and the income of the poorest 20% of citizens have decreased by about 10%.
    -----
1 out of 6 Americans has no health insurance.
    -----
The US has the highest child poverty rate of all developed nations, at almost 30%.
    -----
The US does less than any other developed nation in reducing child poverty....with a reduction rate at less than 2%.
    -----
Almost 100 billion pounds of food is wasted in America each year.
    -----
According to the USDA, appox. 130 pounds of food per person ends up in landfills each year, enough to feed roughly 49 million hungry people.
    -----
The number of people who received food stamps in 2001 decreased by over 10 million since 1994, a drop of over one-third in program participation.
    -----
The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that only 40 percent of the drop is due to a stronger economy, other sources report that about 50 percent of the decline is due to problems implementing the 1996 welfare law, and as much as 8 percent is due to limits on eligibility established in the welfare law.
    -----
America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest network of food banks, reports that 23.3 million people turned to the agencies they serve in 2001, an increase of over 2 million since 1997. Forty percent were from working families.

i've still got most of my sources, if anyone would care to see them. And no, they're not from bleeding heart liberal sites, most either come from non-profit, charitable organizations, or from government websites like the USDA and shit.

moonshine, your post just made me even more strong in my beliefs. those beliefs being, i don't want to have children. i do, but i don't. i do, because it'd be great to have a little version of myself and all, but i don't because...well, look at how the world is. so many kids are poor and starving, while greedy fat cats like bush and his buddies probably light their cigars with 100 dollar bills. i personally think that the world is already too overcrowded, and we just don't need to be bringing anymore people into this world. especially if the world is headed for complete disaster. i don't want to bring a child into the world, just so they have to live through that. i already feel pissed off that i'm gunna have to.

and grievousangel, i'm sorry, but i just don't see why you're here. the kind of people this site was designed for, would never support bush. i'm sorry, but you just don't belong here and i don't see why you are. you just seem to be pissing people off.

even though i don't agree with everything GrievousAngel writes about, i don't think he shouldn't be here if he has a differing opinion. it would be pretty boring if we didn't have people with differing opinions and ideals than everyone here to discuss with. come on man, having topics discussed about politics and the state of our country or anything else just with like-minded people is not beneficial to anybody and its really boring to do.

    *sigh* fucking people...

i didn't mean that there is no room here for different opinions, i just mean it doesn't seem very likely that a person in favour of bush and what he stands for, would be on a site for hippies, who are mostly against bush in every way.

i mean, pretty much everytime i come on to the main site, i see a big heading somehow talking anti-bush, and trying to get him out of office. oh, plus all the articles they have about why bush should be impeached, and why people shouldn't vote for him. personally, if i was in favour of bush, i certainly wouldn't want to keep coming to a site like that.

Well if i went to a Pro-Bush site, i wouldn't learn about differing opinions. I agree with some hippies things, but when it comes to supporting others, i am pretty cold.
