Me neither, just like Black sabbath. And on topic: I dig the first albums of Black Sabbath more than almost anything.
And allthough I get kind of tired of all these useless comparisation threads, I surely think this comparisation isn't really weird. Like Samson said, in some parts they have some things in common.

 

They are the classic heavy metal, the 70's style. Heavy Metal started in the late 60's.

 

It may be started in the seventies but heavy metal evolved to a typical sound in the eighties. There's where the real heavy metal is, and the late seventies maybe.

 

I'm on Asmodean's side here (though especially BS is really borderline here).

Just as I don't view Celtic Frost, Venom, Possessed etc. as black metal while most people do. At some time it may have been black metal, but the genre has just developed a lot since and only got its typical sound with the emergence of Mayhem, Darkthrone etcetera, and to be honest, it really has, and always had, more in common with thrash metal. So usually I call these bands 'proto-black metal' because they are what black metal evolved from.

 

Ugghh, no comparision! To even compare the two is an insult. Zeppelin all the way baby!

 

Com'on it's not fair! Of course Led Zep is the best rock band - my favourite number one!
But Black Sabbath made so good works too. Why should I compare them?
I believe that all these polls are bad idea!

 

Zep have more versatility. Battle of Evermore...etc Sabbath kind of sound repetitve..but I like both

 

Please stop this stupid crap both bands have totaly difrent styles. what Plant could do OZY could not what Ozy could do Plant could not.

 

WIthin the context of music in general, Led Zeppelin. But in terms of heavy metal, Sabbath, cause I don't really consider Zepelin metal.

 

Let me tell you this much OZY and black sabbath open my eyes a bit more about those cold war days than Zepelin ever did matter of fact i cant think of any political meaning songs with Led . Black Sabbath spoke of police power and nuclear nightmare in theyr song. far more effective than Led Zep. so here they were far ahead of Led Zep.

 

intenseheat, you could possibly be the stupidest person ive ever came across. Zeppelin wrote about things FARRR more superior then some police power. Try taking a closer listen next time you pop in a zeppelin cd.

 

Sometimes I like Black Sabbath better, sometimes Led Zeppelin, maybe I should have voted for Black Sabbath. I love both these bands, but I like the lyrics of Black Sabbath a bit more, I relate to their lyrics more also. They are both very dark bands but Black Sabbath is a bit darker. They are different lyrically, Led Zeppelin is heavily into the occult in a very embracing way, Black Sabbath on the other hand shows things in a more depressing way.
