I was at Radio Shack yesterday, and the clerk said "Did you lose your shoes today?" I just looked at her, and said "No, but I highly thank you for your concern."

    She looked confused.

    Whatever.

My spanish professor asked me the other day: "Where are your shoes?"

    I reply: "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know?"

    "I mean I don't know."

    "Well, do you have any?"

    "No."

    "Why?"

    "I lost 'em."

Now he asks me everyday if I found my shoes yet. I hope he knows I'm joking

Not quite the same thing, but on the level...

The question I almost always get asked "How come you're always barefoot?". What's most odd is that 90% of the time when people ask me that, I'm actually wearing flip flops. I guess in most people's minds because they can SEE my bare feet, then I must be barefoot. :D I don't bother trying to correct them, I simply tell them that I'm one of those "body-sensitive" types and to try and get them to understand what that means I use the old analogy that enclosing my feet in shoes all day would be like them wearing gloves on their hands. They have a purpose and sometimes they are truly necessary, but no one wears them all the time.

The other typical statement or question I get is "How do you keep your feet so nice?" or something along those lines. The funniest thing I've heard like that was from a female co-worker who commented "You have hypnotic feet...they're so smooth!" ;)

Just got a new one today, actually, a rather intelligent one.

A large estate on a granite mtn top I stop by weekly, mostly as a consultant but I also get to prune and do forestry things---anyway, one of their gardeners, an older women said: "I notice you always come here barefoot---do any of these sharp stones ever hurt you?"

It was a fair question, from someone who I think respects me. I said, YES, sometimes, a pointed sharp pebble, sitting on a hard granite surface, does stick me and it doesn't feel good, but it's still worth it because everything else feels SO good." We were just starting to get into the paradox of how tougher feet feel LESS pain, but MORE pleasurable neat textures out there.

I think I tell everyone who is at my many work places that my sessions in rose beds are my most risky times. Some of the invisible little thorns can imbed in my feet for a week, causing pain. That's the only thing I ever admit to people, that causes me real trouble.

the usual "Where are your shoes?" to which I reply gladly, "I'm wearing 'em".
and of course "Don't you step on glass?" , "You ever step in dog shit?"

sometimes they make little jokes when i'm barefoot "Hey I like your shoes!" to which I reply "Thanks, my parents made them for me," or "You do? I got them for free."

actually, as one of the only people in town who likes to go out barefoot some of the kids in school here call me "NoShoes", or repeatedly point out when I am wearing shoes. lol

    LOL @ above poster.

I dated a guy for awhile that called me "J.J."

Like "Shoeless" Joe Jackson (baseball player that played barefoot).

    I don't know, I thought it was clever...lol

I stepped on glass or something. All my friends said was to put on my shoes until I got home. I threw them at one of them and ran off, screaming.

U ever think ur nuts? B/c I am.

They never really question it, but they do say "Barefooting, very cool!" alot.

that is funny.. do you evr think.... i like i like it i dooo, on the barefoot thing.. i do like to have shoe feet.. but once i lost my trainers ina foreign country ona beach.. a dog ran away with them.. and my tent was across a mountain.. and there were no shops/..very isolated place...i didnt get a lift for one of those unknown reasons.. and there was roadworks for miles.. so it was damn uncomfortable getting the black road tar and gravel stuck to my feet .. i blimmin trooped on though!!! garrrhhhhhhhhhhh
later i got free drinks and space in the bar...

i love it on the beach walking with each foot dragging itself on the top slightly adterwards.. doyou do that?? its sosoo nice.

other benefits include old people giving me food without request...
