In this forum, I've watched many Christians get frustrated when, much to their dismay, they witness to others for extended periods of time and still don't see the fruit of their labor. I'm afraid I can't understand why anyone would feel this way... It seems to me that one only sets themselves up for failure when they expect certain things to happen in certain ways.

But that's neither here nor there... It's just my opinion. That and a buck twenty five gets you a cup of coffee at 7-11. [IMG]

Since I don't want to assume anything at all before I go any further, I'd like to ask you guys... Why do you witness? Do you care about the individual? Really...? 'Cause ya'll can lie to me, but the actions speak for themselves. A lot of times, it seems that peeps in here are witnessing seeking the pleasure of being "right".

Such a pursuit is doomed to fail. How can one seek "rightness" when the way they're going about it is so wrong? [IMG]

Well, consider that there's also Christians who love it when you rebuke them. It's their own being nailed to the cross drama trip - I'm being persecuted, therefore I'm right...

Ugh, the people at the church I used to go to were really bad about this. They would knock on the same doors every sunday and harass people about christ until those people finally got mad after seeing them for the 5th sunday in a row. Then they would say "See, the world hates us, just like God said!"

Trust me mate, when I was a non-believer, and joined nonbeliever forums, there were quite a few of us who went out looking for christians to argue with....

ROFL!!! No, everybody hates stalkers. Maybe someone should drop the dime on 'em....

Actually, no. Scratch that. I don't think I could stand to see the explosion of "spiritual harassment" suits. [IMG]

LOL! I found doing that irresistable when I practiced Wicca. It was only better if they showed up while I was in full goth... Priceless. *cheezy grin*

Anyway, people who aren't willing to lend you their ear about your thoughts don't deserve your time, anyways. Good riddance.

Awww. Come on, soaringeagle, that's not fair. [IMG] Some Christians have enough sense to realize that arguing "the truth" of quotes found in a book of faith with people from other faiths is just dumb. It makes about as much sense as arguing that I need a head covering in public and can't directly speak to men who are not family, even though I'm not a Muslim.

Bible quotes should be reserved for A) responses to people asking what the Bible says on a particular subject, and B) responses to Christians, who claim the Bible as their source of spiritual enlightenment.

*sighs contentedly, rubbing belly & picking teeth* Mmmm. Yes, they really do stick to your ribs. It was fantastically easy. All my hippie ass had to do was open the door holding a Strong's Concordance: They died of fright. The rest, as they say is, history... But where am I gonna hide these bones??? [IMG]

    ...

Anyway, I'm glad you guys responded. I thought I could discuss this more with my Christian friends, but I think I'm being ignored...?

Which, of course, was bound to happen. I'm persecuted because I'm right, after all. [IMG]

Hello folks. You know, everybody witnesses. If you got something good, you naturally want to share it. Everyone who believes in their own conclusions will witness, and there is really nothing wrong there.

As for some others mentioned, they may simply be practicing their people skills. Let's be big and give them room and time enough to grow.

As always, your maturity shines a light that reflects years of experience. :)

I've found that some Christians "witnessing" tactics are truly offensive attacks on someone's character. It suggests that there are ulterior motives *not* associated with the interest of loving concern. It's like my Grandma says, if you've got nothing nice to say, don't open your mouth....

In the marketplace of ideas, everyone has a right to speak and have their ideas heard. But with that right comes the responsibility to let others speak and actually listen to their thoughts. It's about respecting one another as human beings.

Like any other normal human being, if people don't know their behavior is unnecessarily offensive, they won't change. Not that telling them changes it. It just helps make them aware that they're being more harmful to their cause than helpful. ;)

Find a fault in the Bible and you destroy the foundation of faith of a Christian.

On a different topic, I love how the majority of people on the forums who are against the Bible and God, will attack Christianity from all angles but hardly will you see their explanation of:

    WHERE WE COME FROM

    WHY WE WERE CREATED

    WHERE WE ARE GOING

Ahh, so once again, let me use this same logic on you and tell me how it feels to be completely stereotyped:

Soaringeagle, there is no point in arguing with atheists. They are just self-centered, ignorant people who are lost and they know it, and get violently mad at anyone trying to have an intelligent discussion about truth with them.

Now I wouldn't and continue to not say that about atheists...or anybody...Christian, Buddhist, atheist or agnostic. But I guess that's because I believe in treating others the way I myself would like to be treated. Perhaps you don't hold this belief.
