This might be in the wrong place, sorry if it is. Every summer solstice at some standing stones near where i live there is a red and white flower left in them. Anyone know what this means? Thanks, R.
I think I have an idea... a local pagan probably left them because white represents sperm and red represents blood. It's more appropriate for Beltane than summer solstice, but maybe they're from a group that only celebrates the minor sabbats. Just a thought.
Or maybe they only celebrate the Germanic Holidays, rather than "minor sabbats" Not all pagans follow the neopagan "wiccan" calendar. Maybe, the dont celebrate ANY European versions of anything, but celebrate ONLY summer solstice, or maybe some old christian lady leaves them there for St. John. Its all speculation. Whatever the individuals motivation, its something personal and special to them i am sure.
Right you are... I guess you'll never really know what the red and white flowers are all about (unless you catch someone in the act of putting them there and ask them).
Thanks for the replies everyone. It kind of makes it even more interseting not knowing for sure why they are there. R.
maybe just red and white are favourit colours. I tend to go through colour phases, lateley for me I've been working with a lot of pink, blue and green, although not sure why, but it works for me.
