I'm goin to mexico pretty soon and I heard that you can walk into pharmacies and just buy pills. Is that true? If so I'm loading up.
You can, there was a big article about it in Rolling Stone no that long ago. They may have cracked down on it since then though.
you can, but keep in mind you can also walk into any pharmacy in the US or Canada and buy pills, too. it just depends on what you want to buy and whether or not you have a prescription. certainly i'd assume some things you need a prescription for in the US you do not need a script for in mexico; but don't walk in there hoping for oxycontin (oxycodone) or desoxyn (methamphetamine) without a prescription. for the record, rolling stone is NOTORIOUSLY bad about giving false drug-related information (at least within the past decade or so) i have a friend who bought some anxiety pills of some sort (i think alprazolam/xanax) over the counter in a pharmacy in mexico and brought them back. i think it would be far less risky to mail them, though, i dont know how legal it would be bringing them back, and i'm not positive but i think its completely random who gets searched at the mexican border, unlike the canadian border where you're usually only searched if they think something about you is suspicious. i'd bet you could maybe get some xanax and maybe something else for sleep or anxiety (ambien probably, >>maybe<< benzodiazapines other than xanax) and i would bet you could probably buy some codeine....but it's still a real country with real laws, even if most officials are corrupt. you are going to need a script for the heavier stuff.
Do you think any of the places in Mexico will sell the pharms to minors. I figure that since ive been able to walk in and buy tequila that i hopefully will be able to buy pills.
